It's rewarding to give thanks for life as we know it. And oh yes it's possible to take a. Break in Place. Last summer I found great delight in having afternoon free time on my bed basking in the sunlight streaming through the window. I pretended I was sunbathing on the Riviera.

Who knows if I'll travel on holiday again? So I'm happy I have memories to fall back on.

Oh there are virtual visits as well. My first born son lives in Wales. We go down to the beach with him on warm days and moonlit nights. In turn I take him with me for walks around our yard and neighborhood.

It's all good!

Stay safe healthy and blessed

Julia

I enjoyed your poem. There are days we wake up wanting something we don't have, but when we go away from home it helps only temporarily. Home is we can be at our best and if we are doing the things we enjoy most, it can be like a vacation every day.

I enjoyed this poem with its perspective that highlights the pleasure of every day. The recognition that a formal vacation is not necessary to relax and enjoy life. Nicely composed and presented

"When I adopt the attitude
That vacation is every day
I bow my head in gratitude
Happy living is when we play"
This poem expresses the feeling we all have, that we would like to get out of the house and go somewhere different for a change. But then we realize that we can't, so we content ourselves and enjoy our time alone.

It is a major psychological breakthrough to realize that attitude and gratitude can bring stability and purpose to one's life, and that we don't have to go globe-trotting to find true peace and satisfaction at home. Your poem's last line is the essence: "Happy living is when we play." It sure is.

John,

I really enjoyed reading your musings about needing a vacation and coming to the determination that everyday is a vacation...with gratitude expressed, which is always key I believe. Home is your only true destination.

The following stanza stood out to me:

"I will release my normal life
And sources of irritation
Ignore the world and all the strife
To seek my peace with all passion"

I like your rhymes as you tell this Spring break tale.
Kind of a funny pic too.

Thanks for sharing,

AnnaLinda
