Grandma's mason jar
left on the snowed veranda --
preserving winter
Sometimes everyday objects make the best decorations. We only need to observe carefully and appreciate them.

'Grandma's Mason Jar', is short, succinct and very much to the point. With a minimum of words, this talented poet has told it as it is. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Gypsy: wonderful memories of winter and Grandma.
Many people drink out of these jars. My daughters
made up some rosemary, sugar, cranberry juice,
and vodka to celebrate Christmas.
Enjoy the season. I wrote two novels this year.

Oh, Gypsy, this was wonderful - I just gave out my last six.
Thank you for introducing us to the EKPHRASTIC poem. You paint such beautiful images for the reader and your Grandma's mason jar is a work of art. Your satori is stunning - "preserving winter".
Another masterpiece, and please take my virtual six.

What a great description of how winter is being held in your grandma's jar. It's a memory that you'll always have..it's little things like that that I remember. Thanks for sharing. :)

That is such an amazing picture. The presentation is really outstanding.
How in the world did that picture come out with such perfection. I suspect you saw the picture before you wrote the words. They match well.

I love this! The picture is perfect. This poem allows me to envision grandma in her garden, picking the vegetables, snapping the green beans, and canning them in mason jars. I love that you used preserving winter. The jar waits for the return of green and growth. Beautiful work!

I was intrigued by your writing. Wondering if Grandma's leave mason jars on the veranda. Did yours? The photo was a good reflection of your poem. I enjoyed it.
