Layout looks fine from my end! Oh, how I agree with your lament! I see whole tribes of families sitting around a table, each with their eyes on virtual communication... (Love your stanza about the Kardashians by the way!)--- It' sonly in social media that one can be famous for being famous... No accomplishments, just a superb media marketing campaign!
It's enough to drive me bonkers!--Karenina

I had to put a space in the middle of the first stanza so the lines wouldn?t be meshed together for some reason. I really appreciate your feedback

If I had a 6 left, this poem would get it. Your skillfully-written, realistic poem conveys a powerful message about how our modern devices, which can be used for good, are being overused in a chilling way--taking the place of real human closeness.

I like this poetic bit of nostalgia. Technology can be a beautiful thing too. Families separated by oceans can stay connected and if it were not for zoom, I would have never been able to see family in lockdown for covid during holidays for my faith. I also see the negative effect of overuse of technology. It makes our sense of direction poorer and our ability to converse in person declines. Clever social comment on a relevant society issue in excellent rhyme and rhythm.

Thank you for your feedback. I wasn?t thinking of Covid and the issues of the good part about technology as I wrote this poem. It is nice to have modern technology now with all of the stuff going on.

Poetic Visionary,
Now this was an interesting commentary on using technology of all kinds to isolate ourselves from one another in our society.
Dime phone calls, wearing regular old denim, reading a book and dog earring the pages....using a phone book...Lucy's antics and unbridled laughter.
I really liked this realistic yet nostalgic view of life.
Well done- even if I am using my cell phone to text this.

I can remember when a young couple walked into a restaurant we were attending, sat down, ordered their meal, and immediately started gazing at their phones, in my day they be "spooning". A beautifully written rhymer, sweetly written articulate and tetrametric aabb rhymed stanzas, blessings Roy

It is sad what technology has done to people's relationships and free time.
Teenagers seldom talk on the phone and if they do they can't remember the number without their contact list. The pandemic is now becoming the reason for distance and technology is becoming one of the only ways to see and talk to each other. So it is both good and bad.
Keep writing and stay healthy

I didn?t even have the Pandemic in mind when I wrote this poem, even though it?s current. It?s been floating about in my sea of ideas for awhile now. I appreciate your feedback!

You're welcome. It is good when poems can have multiple meanings without even trying.

A very good piece describing present times. I like your flow and rhyme. The format is a little awkward since you have a capital in mid-line there (2/3rd line). You picked a great pic to go with your piece. Thanks for sharing.

I really loved this poem the words were perfect to express the importance of human interaction.
In current times we are all missing people and it's not the same with devices. We all need to put the tech away sometimes.

Thanks for sharing

A very well-written poem about modern technology that taking over the world and normal interactions between people become a rare occasion and everyone seems to be glued to their devices.

It seems that way just now as the virus has added to the separation of family and friends as distance seems no problem with technology, but there is something vitally missing from this kind of isolation, the comfort of a hug, a smile and a kiss, a poignant write, well rhymed and a joy to read, love Dolly x
