A beautiful sentiment and reminder for everyone... with so much 'tech time' rather than 'in-person time', folks tend to lose themselves in a persona...and it's usually not who they are. ;) Thanx for sharing, Lady Sal! ;)

Gordie is my all-time favorite singer/songwriter. I've seen him in concerts 3 times... once at Saint John High School, then at the Convention Center in Saint John, and finally at Harbour Station. He had such a great voice in his younger days, but now his voice is shot. Yet he loves to perform, and people appreciate his talent at songwriting and eagerness to please. Always the entertainer. Humble. A Canadian treasure. I have many favorite songs... Carefree Highway, Softly, Song For A Winter's Night, All The Lovely Ladies, Bitter Green, The Watchman's Gone, Spanish Moss, Sea of Tranquility, Pussywillows Cat-tails, and Beautiful. You want to know a secret? The first time I met my wife was at Camp Tulakadik. I was 22 years old, and she was 18. I was there with my Cub pack. She was there with the Pioneer Girls from her church, Edith Avenue Baptist. One night, after we had all the kids in the sleeping bags for the night, I was playing my guitar on a picnic table. A small crowd gathered, and one of the songs I sang was "Beautiful". True story.
I wish I had a sixer for you, Sally. You sure nailed this one. "To thine own self, be true."

I should have guessed that you would love Gordon Lightfoot. When my husband and I travel to Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia that's all we heard on the radio is a good thing I like him so much because that's all that in your country played at the time. I've been joyed him for so long. I think he's the James Taylor of Canada. I'm always so glad to hear about your love story as well and that just adds to your review. Thank you so much.

I couldn't agree more with your 3-6-9 poem.
I'm having a hard time trying to convince my youngest daughter (9yrs) that she is perfect the way she is. She's always trying to conform to whatever is the 'right' way to be/act/think and believes that she is not 'good enough' if she is 'just' herself. I don't know why she has so little self confidence...

I didn't feel this way when I was nine either. I'm so glad I am who I am, and look like I do... even at 65. I think it comes from an inner contentment and appreciation of the spirit within which moves to the outside. Its way beyond what the world applauds as beautiful. Your beautiful spirit shines through. Keep at your daughter, don't let up. She hears you.

I love the message and the theme. I love the quote from Emily Dickinson. No truer words are known. I love the phrase, "authentic self" it goes way beyond beauty and into the realm of being real...your real self. And that is more than enough to qualify as beautiful.
