Look at that face! There's not a cat lover alive who could
deny this little kittie to cuddle on her lap. I know God loves animals, he made them before man. I can see why this photo prompted your poem. Good job of putting words in his mouth. Gypsymoth

I know, it is an amazing photo, isn't it. Couldn't resist writing a poem for it. Thank you so much, Gypsymoth, for your lovely review. :) Sandra.

I am not sure which one is more adorable, the cat or the poem. I think
if cats could pray, that is exactly what they would pray for.

Smile...lovely, Sandra. I have a precious cat and believe me, I love the gesture and thought behind this write. the image inspires a thousand thoughts, and how charming the way yours have materialized.
If this fails to raise a smile for anyone that reads, they need to ask some serious questions of themselves.
Lovely write.
Best wishes,
RG

This is a little cracker of a poem; did you dig it out from your older work? Only because you are using your three names, previously you haven't; your names are more balanced now you use all three. Anyway, I loved your putty-tat poem dat purrs along with simpering sighs to god. I needed a sweet poem today and you have lifted my spirits with love, love of a putty-tat that says his/her prayers to the Creator of all living things. One of your best, full of love and purring. XX K. ****** six virtual stars cause I ain't got any real ones!!

Thank you, Kay. No, I wrote this yesterday when I found this gorgeous photo. I just thought I had better start using the whole of my name. I joined FS with this name without really thinking. It's strange, because I haven'c changed it on here, but Tom has now changed my name to the full name on all my copyrighted works. Which I am pleased about. I am glad you enjoyed this one. I'm sorry you are you feeling down, Kay, I'm just pleased this poem put a smile on your face. Is it your leg, or something else? Keep your chin up, my lovely friend, you have God on your side, He'll help you. I just wish we lived closer. Lots of love, and a big hug winging it's way to you. :) Sandra xsx

What a gorgeous photo and poem to go with it! There is such an easy conversational tone, which must ring much more truly in the ears of God than all the formalised mantras of the Church. You have captured all of the innocence of a child's prayer here.

Just read this to my cat-loving wife
Her cat was on her knee
Jeanette stroked her purring monster
While she just hissed at me

Guess I never understood
my true role in her life
I toss the trash and obey
The boss who is the wife

Loved your poem and related absolutely to the story.

a precious, adorable photo that goes so well with your poem :-)
great consonance of G sounds in good evening, God
excellent use of abcb rhymes and enjambment
I love the friendly, chatty way of talking with God
I have always assumed God has a sense of humor, so I don't think He is minding at all :-) Brooke

Cute and charming...and it truly captures the POV of an older kitty jealous of her new sister cat (or visiting cat). Good flow and rhyming. Adorable presentation.

I have some suggestions on punctuation that are entirely optional (will paste below) but there are some spag issues in your switching styles of capitalization--sometimes using it on each line and sometimes not.

Here is an editing version without capitalization issues:

B(b)ut he has really gone too far,
can You see where he's sat?

S(s)omewhere that's far away.

Punctuation suggestions, as I know you always welcome ideas on that from me (and these are optional):

Good evening, God, I hope you're well.
Do you have time to chat?
It's really very serious--
about this other cat.

He laps my milk, he eats my prawns...
Now I can deal with that,
but he has really gone too far:
can You see where he's sat?

He's sitting on my mummy's lap,
where I sit every night!
He said he'd been here longer, God,
then said it was his right!

Can I ask you a favour, God?
I'll be good every day!
Just find this cat another home
somewhere that's far away.

Thank you, God. Purrrrr.

I like the bouncy beat and sense of humor here. Pitch pUUURRRRfect closing note!

Love,
rd

I love the picture as I love kitties. Cute picture. Good job writing words to fit is so perfectly. I have 4 kitties who vie for prime lap space every time they can. Sometimes it does get a little filled with jealously by the kitties. I have, though, held all 4 at the same time. I see no changes. Good job and thanks for sharing a cute poem.
