I really enjoyed the diversity of examples you gave - and in particular loved the spirit lifting final stanza :-)
The flowers, butterflies, baby birds and frogs were wonderful "little examples of the phenomenon, and the enlargement to rain/rivers/oceans was a great transition into the most pleasant surprise of all :-)
Nicely done. . .joyfully wrapped up :-)

Hi Brooke. Absolutely love this poem. I could see this as a PB - the new 'Hungry Caterpillar'. Great pic as well by the way. :-) Tony

I like a dad with a sense of humor! I enjoyed the picture, thank, Miranda. Wonderful Kyrielle style that adapts very well to the fun and discovery picture.

Your description of wonderful surprises is great. There are always fantastic prizes in nature and a visiting friend is certainly a great surprise.

Nice to see revival of some poetry forms. The Kyrielle used to be quite common here on FS, and lately it has been under-represented. I liked your poem and the Repeating Refrain - Surprizes happen every day. They sure do!
A wonderful message and another poem for that motivational book. Great pairing of photo and poetry.
Rose.

I love the message of hope in this poem, Brooke. A lot of times things seem unchangeable but then in the blink of an eye "surprises happen". Great examples in each stanza. 8-)

Hi Brooke,
As they say the only constant is change, which does translate into 'surprise' - something life is filled with.
Nicely done.

so great. I enjoyed this poem so much. the language of the words became descriptive pictures. the words did shape this poem. I read this poem and began to feel good. I could see the poem. the flow is so very good. no confusion.

Some how I'm not sure I would be all that excited finding a head on the beach. It's kind of frightening, although in a pinch, you can probably use it for a volley ball. Good Job with all the surprises. Mike
