Hi, Alvin. Another winner which will be added to the haiku essays you've already penned. Lots of folks will get much from your wisdom; and, hopefully, we'll be the happy recipients of their newfound enjoyment. Great job! Bev

This was really fun, Alvin. You wrote an entertaining lecture that wasn't at all boring and filled me with information that was easy to learn and remember. I enjoyed the characters portrayed and the funny dialogue. I can't believe how much I have already learned in your class. And it's so fun. I like your unique teaching style. Thanks for the information with in this lecture and for writing it in a way that is easy to grasp. Dana

LMAO Alvin-san! I'm sitting here laughing so hard I almost peed myself! This is not only informative...it's absolutely charming and hysterical. You sure do have a gift for creative story writing.

I loved the dialogue and the humor which made this a fun and easy read. Bravissimo sir! Not only did I learn more about haiku, but I learned more about how to write a story. It moved along well, held my attention till the end and, of course, made me laugh!

I hope all your lectures will be using this format and thanks for the guffaws!

Sincerely,
Katherine.

Thanks for a great review and that pretty little gold star. I don't know if I shall be able to write all my lectures like this, but I had fun doing this one.

The art work is excellent and the words extremely creative in

every way. I loved the way how the story was told, I guess

the substance and flow of the words, demanded my attention.

The examples of Haiku had great telling words.

Does this make it an evil haiku? (funny)

We don't speak Japanese (My sister-in-law is Japanese, but I still don't speak Japanese.)

You breathe in on bodacious brat, out on steals girl and in on empty room (Okay, Alvin, I can do this if I whisper the words, but not if I speak the words out loud.)

I enjoyed the glimpse of Japanese culture in your lecture. It was a fun read.

Thanks, Patricia. Yes, whisper the words. That works for now. Thanks for a good review.

This was such a fun and instructive essay and lesson as well. Those ins and outs breathing have me going in here. Each time i talk now I am aware of it. It helps me in the reading and understanding of other writings as well.

Hi Alvin,
I liked how you presented this lesson in story form. It makes it much easier to understand and remember (hopefully) the important principles of haiku. I have no idea how to rate an article like this one. It seems exceptionally well written to me and is a nice original way to teach.
Warm regards, W ^-^

You are welcome. I went to the class room and tried to get the black print to come up but no luck. I must be doing something incorrectly. Is it okay to stay bold white?
reply by the author on 11-Apr-2011
I need to think about that. Who else is white right now?
reply by whizpurr ^-^ on 11-Apr-2011
I'm onto black now! Really enjoyed today's class. I think for mood when I'm writing senryu I'll just pretend that I am in a Japanese bar and am completely uninhibited and am writing sophisticated mockery! That should do the trick! ;-) Smiles and hugs, Purr ^-^

O-hi-o, teach-san! This is a delightful summary of your student's requests for learning more about haiku! I love your gentle, non-pedantic approach to our lessons, evidenced here. The humor is divine. I loved "thinking of Bruce as a cockroach is insulting to the cockroach." Much is taught even in that line..I'm so impressed with this rendering, and so pleased to be your student.

Ohio Gazamaz Alvin-sans! As you know, I lived in Japan very happily as a child for three years and loved the experience. Eeechie, knee, sans, show, gee...! I loved our session on Friday. It was deep and insightful and you have captured it well in this essay. You have also captured my dreams of learning about haiku in a deeper and more meaningful way. I loved the humor in this piece and the tongue-in-cheek bantering between you and Hiromi! Great examples. I question only (in an otherwise fantastic piece that I am thrilled has received such high ratings from reviewers I respect) the spelling of "breathe" and "breath." (What a minutiae comment on such a wonderful piece LOL)! I believe the noun is "breath" and the verb is "breathe"? Hugs and look forward to Monday. Sue

O-hi-o, huh? Alvin this was just wonderful to read. And informative as well. I love the name Hiromi and I love anything to do with Japanese culture, they are such dignified people. You wrote this as if you were talking to me, the flow is just magnificent. And the haiku's regarding Bruce, hilarious.
