Hi Sandra, wonderful rhyme and flow. You told a wonderful story of a time in the past in this house. Each house has its own set of memories.

Hi, Sandra

= This is such a lovely ... personal story.
= Your picture, and the artwork from last challenge are two of my favorites.
= Of course, you know me by now, how I love my nostalgia.
= I love the story you told, and how you hope the new people will make their own memories as well.
= Nice job, my friend. You did well on both counts.

Of course and excellent take on your own artwork post Sandra. I had occasion to journey back to the house in which I was born and spent the first eight years of life. It was exactly as I remember it. Besutifully written in lovely nostalgic Language, in quatrained aabb rhyme.succinctly scribed, well done, blessings, Roy

Thank you so very much, my dear friend. I have so many lovely memories of my childhood home. I did go and see it last week, it's still standing and still as I remembered it too. It is looked after a lot better than this poor house in the picture though. Big hugs, my friend. Sandra xxx

Well my goodness, Sandra, I'm glad you finally posted for your own picture submission. You made a good choice with it. I enjoyed reading your interesting poem. A great idea to go get the keys and take a look inside. I thought your poem may end with the suggestion that you may decide to buy it, fix it up, and live there again. Your poem is nicely constructed and rhymed. Marilyn

Thank you so much, Marilyn. I've been away this week, I went to the wedding of my niece in the village I was born in. I hadn't been back for years so it was really nice. I went and visited my childhood home, I was actually born in the front bedroom all those years ago and it still looks the same. The people who live there now have really looked after it. Unlike the house in my picture this choice. If my real childhood home came on the market, I would love to buy it. It belonged first to my grandparents, they had 7 children. Then my parents bought it and Nan and Pops bought a nice small home. My parents had 4 of us, so there were always loads of children there. Thanks again, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Hi Sandra. What a nice event for you-- attend the wedding and going back to your childhood home. I've often thought the same thing about the little house I lived in as a very young child. But I'm in Wisconsin now and that house is in Massachusetts. I love old houses to fix up and live in. My favorite was in California. Marilyn

Memories keep it alive even though it is reclaimed by nature.
Some good but some bad, and the good always come through over all else.
Very nice rhyme and flow

Thank you, Barb, for your lovely review. You are right, we all have our memories, some good and some not so. I find myself remembering all the fun times now that I'm an old(er) person! LOL. I did have some smacks, but I knew I deserved them, lol. Thanks again, my friend. :) Sandra xxx

I loved this! Reminds me of Miranda Lambert's song The House That Build Me. Our houses are the keepers of our memories. They live on even after we've left. Mary

Donald Trump's mansion in Beverly Hills? Just joking! Loved your take on Picture This. I built a home that I loved. When I sold it I decided to return to see how it was being looked after. My beloved home had been razed to the ground (swimming pool and all) in it's place were Housing units. I sat in the car and wept. Good luck in the contest my friend. ****** six virtual stars today.

Thank you, Kay, for your virtual 6! So pleased you liked it. I'm home now, got back last night. Stood on the scales, AGHHHHHH!!!! Lettuce leaf and carrot juice for the week!!!! They are doing that a lot here, knocking down lovely homes and building loads of flats. So sad. It won't be long before all those lovely homes will be gone. I can imagine how upset you were. While we were up in Ipswich, I went to see the house i was born in, and it's still there. It was my grandparents house first. I had some great memories. Thanks again, my friend. xxx xx

Hi Sandra. This is just wonderful. What a take on the picture. You tell a whole family story within your poem that brings this old house come to life. Beautiful is all I can say. Ulla xxx

"It broke my heart to see it standing sad and so forlorn. "

How bout, "It broke my heart to see it standing so sad and forlorn."

Love the ending -

"I looked around and then I left, those times are gone for good,
I'll take my memories with me, this house told me I should.
And now it wants to start again, make memories anew
Like these of mine, perhaps this house will make some just for you."
