Hi, Roy...
I love the mornings-----about 2 or 3 hours after I've been up, with a couple of cups of coffee consumed. (*>*) I've never been a morning person.
However, I do love the beautiful artwork, which helps to emphasize your 5.7.5. Good luck in the contest my friend.
Cheers & Blessings

Love haiku and this is one of the better ones. You pack great imagery and feelings in these 17 syllables and captured it with a perfect picture.

The syllable count is correct, and the content is very true. It is heartening when the long, frightful darkness ends. No master of 5/7/5, haiku and such, I can see
no reason to say other than excellent.

I love the simple, but powerful message of this poem, Roy.
A new morning starts and new hope rises with the sun. Who would have thought the morning to be a "herald of mercy"? What hope that brings to any who feel they need forgiveness and mercy.
Beautiful and inspiring,
Rhonda

In your author notes, you quote one of my mother's most favorite scriptures. I heard her repeat it so often, so thank you for that sweet memory. Your 5-7-5 poem is beautiful and a perfect re-phrasing of the scripture. I love early mornings too, and this gorgeous picture reminds me of Donner Lake in the first rays of morning, as seen from our front room window. New hope dawning, heralding God's mercy, new every morning. Just lovely, Roy.

What a most encouraging thing to say. I think we always seek to touch someone, and God always comes through, I'm so glad it brought your mum into focus, they are such dear people, some people didn't get it, my mum's been gone for a couple, looking forward to seeing her again, thanks for exceptional review, comments and stars, blessings, Roy.

I love this poem. Its so beautifully written and well put together. With each new morning does come hope. The picture is excellent as well and so fitting.

Very pretty 5-7-5 and the pic works great. As the sun comes up, it somehow always infers hope with 'newness' and reminds us of God's power and majesty. It's interesting to note that when you see a picture like this, without explanation, you can never really know if it's a picture of the sun rising or setting. You only know it's morning if you have been through the darkness.

The picture really compliments the beauty of this poem. I like the last line: "herald of mercy" although I am not quite sure why the morning is merciful. Maybe the speaker is grateful for another day.

Each morning is a new day, no doubt about it. Succinctly expressed. Beautifully illustrated. Best of luck in the contest.
