I like the simplistic cause and effect of this. . .it paints a compelling picture (though the photo you attached does a nice job of it too :-)
Good Luck in the contest :-)

Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
Comment from Dean Kuch
The Pecos river, near the Truchas peaks, flows South East across Eastern New Mexico and West Texas, all the way to the Rio Grande. In West Texas, Red Bluff Dam forms a reservoir on the Pecos. Long-standing interstate disputes about water use were settled in 1949, when a federal bill provided for a compact between New Mexico and Texas. In the heyday of ranching in West Texas, "west of the Pecos" was the term for the distinct and rugged region of the western tip of the state. Included in part of this rugged terrain is the Pecos River Dam.
As of 11:30pm Saturday night, September 20th, city of Pecos officials issued a voluntary evacuation of homes at F St from County Road 404 to Hackberry Rd.
They will continue to monitor the weather and make changes to evacuation plans as needed.
A timely topic for your lune choice. Good luck.:}

powerful pairing of artwork and poem, which is in excellent 5/3/5 syllable count for the Lune
strong verb choices add to the drama of the scene

Thank you so very much. I just came in from bailing water to keep it at bay for awhile. I appreciate your time and review.

This is an interesting lune, made more so by the fact that it has a true, current event reference. Form and syllable count correct according to contest criteria. Good luck in the contest, Jeanie Mercer

Thank you so much. We are still being inundated with rain. Yes, we need rain, but not all at once. Thanks again.

This is a nicely-written lune. Your poem tells the story well. It's even more impactful because it actually happened.
The picture adds great enhancement to your words. Thanks for sharing, and good luck in the contest! Alana

Thank you so much. I have been bailing water all day. (Except to write the poem).

A Lune poem well condensed into the writing prompt. The Pecos River Dam breaking upstream looks a truly frightening proposition for those in the river's flow. Good luck in the contest.

Good job. Certainly makes you tough competition.
I thought the Pecos was just a little stream.
It looks pretty powerful. Good luck in the contest.

I have never experienced a dam breaking but the thought of it is very scary. You have described it well with just a few well chosen words. Good luck.

Thank you for the great review. My poem is true. The break happened 9-20-14. Some residents were forced to go to the high school as a result. I appreciate your time and review.

Thank you very much for the great review. I am not sure if author's note appear, but this happened Saturday, 9-20-14, in Pecos, Texas from the rain and flooding from the remnants of hurricane Odile that hit México.
