I just had brunch with my 3 1/2 year-old granddaughter who had the same opinion of HER mother when the food arrived. Nothing pleased her except dessert. I really like the rhyme of "cower" and "cauliflower." A fun poem from a child's point of view, Brooke.

A solution for Sawyer which, like my kids, I am sure he already applies - drown everything in ketchup. Well, except for the ice cream.

ravenblack, thanks so much. That might work if he liked ketchup LOL - I always thought his Uncle Eric was the world's worst eater, but Sawyer outdoes him and then some :-) Brooke

I bet all kids know something about this. Moms try their best to please; kids have their own special tastes and preferences. As always, enjoyed your writing a great deal.

Thanks so much, Evi, for your generous sixth star :-) If they ever give prizes to the world's fussiest eater, I am nominating my grandson :-) Brooke

I get so tired of having to re-write my reviews because of error messages. Here It is again!
Yummy! What a handsome boy! I'm sure every word you wrote is true especially about the ice cream sandwich.I love the 8/6/8/6 quatrains you know. xsx Nancy

Thank you so much, Nancy :-) Sawyer is the love of my life and the love of Miranda's life, but he is the fussiest eater on planet Earth. He does, however, love all things ice cream :-) Brooke

Don't we all. Especially home made ice cream.

Don't go crazy - Miranda inherited her lack of cooking talent from me - we are a buy them in a box kind of family LOL :-)

Hi Brooke,

I love this! What Mom hasn't had to be creative to get the food into the tummy?

The pix of Sawyer is priceless as well. It's like he's saying with his expression, 'Okay, now you're talking real food!"

Fantastic job with this one.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'.... Jax

Who is this kid, and why is he so darn cute? He looks like the sweetest of muses. Do you just look at a photo, and out pops the poem? Or is it the other way around?

Thanks so much, granny - yes, the photos inspire the poems, but they hardly just pop out. I sure wish one would just pop out one day and sidestep all that work. LOL :-) Brooke

I am totally against all forms of pain...if it don't pop out...well, too bad. I have no intentions of labor pains again. Although I could probably put together something about the Labor Pains of birthing poetry. Ummm. Good idea Brooke, thanks.

Once again, you've managed to take an ordinary moment in Sawyer's day and elevate it with rhyme and your love into something special. I'll say it again (and again, and again) - I think you're denying children everywhere the chance to love these rhymes, too. Almost all of them (like this one) depict an everyday event children can relate to. This will also introduce them to the power of verbal expression and thus to reading and writing itself. I encourage you to consider it.

Thank you so much, my encouraging friend. I promise I'm in the process of organizing all my poems into groupings that make sense so that I can get to work on pursuing publishing. My daughter knows I'm doing it, so she's going to hold me to following through :-) Brooke

With this boy
I'll have to agree
Please toss that tuna
Back into the sea

Ice cream sounds delicious
A treat worth waiting for
maybe even nutritious
to help even the score

Well done as always, Buck

But I forgive each time she's made
my churning stomach scream
when Mom serves up her specialty --
a sandwich of ice cream.

Oh Brooke, that joyful poem is so nicely written, the description of your thoughts, run so well with those amazing words using them to come out with such a beautiful simple poem, and Sawyer reaction of course, is unbelievable. Well done as usual, nobody can beat you in poetry. Love both of you. Terry xoxo
Here again my six stars from Montreal will shine above both of you. xoxo

LOL! Verrrrry cute! This stanza had me laughing out loud:

She tries to dress her tuna up
in motherly devotion,
though I just wish her tuna fish
would jump back in the ocean.

Devotion and ocean... what fabulous rhymes, and so funny! :)
