To be able to accept the joy of love like an eager child, without the need for caution. Ah, Brooke! To be that young again. :) Nancy

Love the title, the sentiment, and, of course, the execution of this one.
How many times in life do we do just the opposite and RUN away from joy.
I do hope that I have officially give up that odious habit and that I NEVER pick it up again, At this sunset time of life, JOY is all I am willing to indulge.
Thank you for brightening up my day.
Hugs, d

Wow, I thought Sawyer was growing up awfully fast! :) Delightful poem and a good reminder to look for the positive good things God scatters in abundance on all His creatures. :)

Thanks so much, Janie - they are the most wonderful pair ever :-) I can't imagine how they could possibly love each other more. Brooke

That is so awesome. He's like a baby brother and she's like a big sister. God is so good. God loves you and so do I.

She tells anyone who will listen that he's her little brother - they go somewhere like a park together and she introduces him that way. I'm sure there are lots of folks in California who think they are actually siblings. LOL
One day Miranda didn't know some Hebrew songs to sing with Nora. When Nora asked her why she didn't know the songs, Miranda explained that she is not Jewish. Nora was dumbfounded. She replied to Miranda, "But you're in my family and everyone in my family is Jewish."
LOL

She has to be precious. Gdo loves you and so do I.

I love the theme of your Rispetto.
Life is too short not to accept occasions
for joy whenever it comes our way.
Beautifully conveyed thought and a
delightful picture to illustrate it. Nancy

Kingsrook, thank you so much :-) Nora is Sawyer's honorary big sister, so she let him take a break today. LOL I appreciate your generous sixth star :-) Brooke

I love the note mentioned in the author's notes that story is what your poem describes in detail. Children have a gift for giving unconditional love and expressing joy without any fear of judgment. As we grow older we unfortunately start to care more about what others think of us and it slowly causes that childlike innocence to wither. I love the positive, optimistic outlook that the tone of this poem conveys to the reader. The meter is solid and the rhyming pattern incorporated throughout makes this piece cohesive with thought-provoking lines that transition seamlessly from one to the next. Well written, evoking the possibility of making the impossible come true.

Another simple truth imparted in this little piece. Too many run away from joy because of an underlying 'underserving' agenda, so joy is too uncomfortable (to sustain for long). It can FEEL like a "mistake".
Well conveyed in few words, Brooke!
Cheers

Very nice flow to this thought provoking poem. How often do we deny ourselves in life the very thing that will bring us joy? And to what end? Peer pressure, social standing or political correctness? One good thing about the later years of life. It gives me freedom to do what makes me happy! Thanks for this poem. A pleasure to read.

There is truly pure joy in your words as well as the questioning of love perhaps taken for granted at times. I'm learning much by observing different rhyme schemes in posted works. Thank-you. Rubylou
