What a fabulous presentation for this amazing acrostic - yes, I guess if vampires really existed, there would be child vamps too - sad! Best of luck in the contest!

    Thanks, Dawn, I appreciate the review and contest well wishes. However, the contest ended at 2:00 AM, and my entry lost to Dragon Skull's (Ron's) stunning acrostic Sonnet, 7-6.

this is an excellent write, dean, you did an excellent job writing this poetic tale of the vampyre's confusion about her new life. I enjoyed reading it. did you get any votes?

    I missed winning the contest by a single vote, 7-6. Although I received lots of great reviews for this one, it got very few votes.

    Go figure.

    Thanks for the review.

Fantastic write, my friend. I think I've come across the girl pic before somewhere. Maybe you had it posted on another write. Not sure where I saw it before. Excellent for this piece. Great poetic skills, D. Best of luck. Glad to see you're up on the well received list. I had a piece up there but some newbie who don't know how to rate shot it down with a 4 even though they liked it. Weeeeee. Again, great write.

Ron

    Thanks, Ron, it happens to me all of the time as well. They offer nothing but high praise, then think they're tossing you a bone by giving you three, perhaps four (if you're lucky) stars in their rating.

    Go figure...

    Again, I appreciate your encouraging comments. They are sincerely appreciated.

You sure can find these templates. Makes your poem come alive with the border, and the fine details. It even drips blood. If I was a vampire I would be all over this! Yummy -- yum. This creation is bloody good. The words are just as good as the picture, if not better. An excellent combination of seldom heard words that tickle my mortar mind and imagination. I particularly love this bloody poem. I rate it as a top ten in your bone collection of nightmares, frights, what a spooky delight, right? You knocked the ball out of sight. What a terrible night for the vampire out of human hosts. Must stalk the woods like a ghost and catch wildlife with vigor and strife. You got a wife? Use her for the bait, and just wait. The deer run in a gait before crossing the interstate. Looker over there -- there is some road kill. This is astonishing! You created a monster. Count your doubloon. Spook-a-doo, boo... all I got is five, I wonder why. This art is worth a seven. Maybe I can upgrade this unit to a six after I get em' boo...

    Ha-ha, thanks, Wackydo, but I ain't counting nothin yet, if you know what I'm sayin'? I wish I were, LOL...

    These templates, I got a million of 'em. Okay, maybe not a million, exactly. But I got a lot.

    Anyhow, I'm happy you enjoyed it, and as always, I'm happy with however many stars you got to toss my way.

    Gotta run, I'm watching the movie "MISERY" with Spookette and little Spooky Jr.

    I'll see ya in the funny pages... :)

    Spookette and Spooky Jr. Sounds like a rhyme. I like them nicknames. James Caaun and Kathy Bates? That is one killer show. Better hope it don't happen to you, Spooky. After you publish a few books and get famous. I never get tired of watchin' that show. Like, watchin' the Shining. I can never get enough. I will update that Vampire thing as soon as I get refurbished on me sixers. Do we have them, yet? That vampire poem is a favorite of mine. Yep, a lot of them votes come from behind that hedgerow, on the lofty knoll, ask Kennedy. That Mystic Angel 7777 can sure come up with them votes, in a heartbeat. Namasta mcnasty used to do the same thing. Your stuff always look better than most. Later, misery lives on.

Hi Dean, how on earth (or somewhere) do you produce those graphics? No don't tell us that's your ( perhaps ghastly) secret. Chuckle, chuckle (slightly demonic sound).

That's the limit to my special effects...LOL.

Anyway, your poem... I see that you have produced a 'rhyming' and acrostic poem. To have managed both disciplines in one poem, and, to this standard is a truly magnificent achievement.

An interesting subject, a young girl vampire. Her words are powerful and full of emotion.

The word powerful creeps in again to describe the 'visual' which is also creative, and inspiring.

Worthy of more than a six my friend. :) Mel.

    Thanks so much, Mel, and I wish more of those who have voted so far felt the same as you do, LOL...

    I appreciate that you have grasped the powerful sadness in her words, as the entire poem hinges on it. It's hard to feel empathy for an undead monster, I realize that. And therein was the challenge I faced; to get people who read it to "feel" for her, if that makes any sense at all.

    Thanks so much again, Mel. I must remain anonymous for now, as the contest is ongoing. However, I do sincerely appreciate your encouraging review and support. :}

Wow, this is so impressive! The whole presentation is wonderfully vivid, dark and powerful. You have more than risen to the challenge of the acrostic poem challenge with this well written piece. This is just excellent and I wish you the very best of luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing!

    Thanks, butterfly, and by the look of the way things are going, I am going to need all of the luck that I can get.

    I do appreciate your kind and encouraging review. It does give me some hope that it's resonating for some.

    Thanks again. :}

Your poem easily translates to "addictions," for all who have unsatisfied "needs." Yes, alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography, sex, tobacco, or spending.

Stage left, enter the Vampire: a person who preys mercilessly upon others, such as a blackmailer, drug dealer, money lender, or rapist.

One must fashion a modern" Silver Bullet," or "Wooden Stake," to overcome the negative attraction, or forever suffer the negative power of addiction.

If one gives up and dies, what good has that done for humanity. Never give up.

    Good perception offered here, ELPoetry001, and you're also absolutely right.

    Many have unfairly been given the connotations of "blood sucking leeches", or "Vampires." Until we walk a mile in their tattered shoes, and live the lives they lead, who are we to condemn someone?

    Thanks so much for sharing your insights and comments. They are all sincerely appreciated. :}

One rarely feels empathy for a "monster" much less a vampire. Your explanations helped capture the victim's sorrow. She reminds me of the young girl in the movie INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE. In one of the scenes she rebels against her inability to age. Amazing art work and wording.

    Thanks so much, JM. A fellow reviewer suggested that I add the explanation so that others could more easily empathize with the young girl's plight, so I owe it to them for their keen insight in prompting me to add the explanation.

    As for the poetry and artwork, that is my own, and I'm very happy you grasped the gist of the poem so well.

    Thanks again, my friend. I appreciate it! :}

Enjoyed the text, eventually. This was very hard to read. Kinda old eyes, I guess, but this is the only one that was a visual challenge - while at the same time I admired the Gothic effects and spooky water dripping. Good adherence to theme throughout. I know how difficult it can be to rhyme in this format.and I applaud the language skills. Good luck in the contest. - Wendy
