This is really good, Brooke. Witty, wise, rhymed and in perfect cinquain form. It's one of those little poems I like to carry around in my head to remind me not to overreact (as I am prone to do) to closed-minds that feed in themselves.
Great job.

Dogmatic people really get my goat! :-) Thanks, my friend. Brooke :-)

So very very true. And yet, so many people refuse to see that by refusing to open their mind up to new experiences and thoughts they are refusing to actually open their lives up. I hate to think how many things I would have missed out on if I didn't have an open mind. (Mind you, I have been told Im so open minded it's scary.) Wonderful Wonderful poem. I love the message.

What a delightful way of expressing such a mundane truth. So many people are not receptive to the realaities of life and living.
The cinquain works exceptionally for this work

I found this very interesting and I liked the message. As always, I go for short, sweet and to the point. A closed mind is a sad thing and you are so very right to add ... all it hears is what it first supposed. Something I never thought about. Very well written and also thought provoking.

This is a good piece, my friend,
your words ringing true.
I thought I'd review yours before
going off for the night.
Won't be on until late tomorrow, if

Take good are of yourself.
God Bless.
Margaret.

How neat is this! The thought itself is worth circulating, but you've said it in so few words, adhered to a traditional poetic form, and incorporated rhyme, Brooke. It's a gem. Peter

Peter, thank you - I thought it was a little throw away while I try to think of tomorrow's poem, but people are liking it. : -) Brooke

Your throwaways are other people's gems, mine included.

Good Golly, Miss Molly! :-) This was another winner! It boggles my mind how good poets can say such awesomely intricate things in so few words. You could base a whole college thesis on this little piece. Excellent!

There's almost a major and minor turn in this cinquain. The major one is between the third and fourth line and the minor one between the fourth and fifth line. It has very good metaphorical, aphoristic and didactic quality.
As my mentor used to say:
"You can't get a person out of a position by reason that s/he didn't get into by reason."--John Boswell of Yale
Good juxtaposition of picture and poem.

A very profound poem this Brooke and symptomatic of a lot of the ills we have to contend with in this day and age.
If more time was spent looking for that key then creation would again find its true rhythm. Great poem...
