Once I tried to skip a stone upon the sea. Unfortunately there was a snorkeler and the stone failed to skip his head when he came up for some air. It is strange but it is these little things that give us most joy, in your case that is. The skipping stone reminds me of Jesus walking on water and the snorkeler, Peter. The sun shone that splendid day and like in the transfiguration, He sparkled with each brilliant beam. And when I am out of steam, I remember of the stone skipping the water. Warmest regards from ickkajopat.

This is very good. I read Judian's and wondered what the style was. I guess I should have asked. I like it. You did very well with it yourself. It is a great format for this one. I haven't tried to skip a stone in year.
Wonder if I still could?? I think my record is same as yous and I'm still proud of it ;)
Thanks for the memories :)

I can't judge you on the specific format as I had never heard of it before. But I liked the poem and the rhythm you wrote it in. It has a nice light subject matter that was fun to read. This was my pleasure to have read and reviewed it... John

Another great piece, Brooke.
Something a little different,
with a smooth flow to the words
and excellent rhythm and rhyme.
My, what a record - I just can't
imagine. I'm not much of a skipper
of stones myself, they just plonk
when I throw them.
I hope the day there is as bright as ours here.
Margaret.

Margaret - thank you. I'm on my way to the MS walk in a few minutes. I won the Poem of the Month - voting ended last night. So, it's a good morning. Hope you're having a great Sunday. Brooke :-)

I am so jealous I don't think I've ever managed to skip a stone once! What beautiful imagery, the thing I loved the most about this poem was that I felt like I was the one there skipping the stone across the water. I'm thinking you're on a bit of a water theme at the moment?

For whatever reason I've been longing to be around water lately - yes!! Thanks for your perceptive review, Brooke ;-)

This is beautiful in itself. We love skipping stones across our dam but you made it all sound so much more beautiful.

brooke,
one of those wonderful things my dad taught me to do ... skip stones on the water. not an easy feat to say the least. made me smile. easy to read and follow. no spaggies. imagery is excellent. nice little tidbit in the notes is always good.

Comment from words
Beautiful use of the unusual poetic form(at least unusual to me).
Loved the flow of the words and the subtle repeating....very well done!
I especially liked:You can't imagine how it gleamed,
that laughing water struck by light.
I skipped a stone upon a stream
that summer day when all seemed right
Yes, "those "summer day(s) when all seemed right"

Comment from Joan E.
I vicariously enjoyed your delight about the quatern and stone skipping. You chose just the right line to repeat and added very effective alliteration. Your rhythm was lovely, and your final thoughts on aging heartfelt.
