Beautiful! Speaks volumes about all the possibilities for now and the future. And that dreams can become reality. Love the way you said, "for my eyes" - as a vision for those dreams!

Thanks so much sharing this lovely, uplifting thought. (And for giving the definition of the great word).

Happy New Year!
Sue

Sue, I'm so glad you enjoy this one - after a few dismal ones about war and apathy, I figured I'd better do something upbeat!! Thanks so much, Brooke and happy new year to you, too!

I missed those works of yours you just mentioned. But, then again, I've missed tons with the holidays and all. I know what you mean. After I did my pretty heavy free verse, I had to do a few fun and uplifting ones to offset! HA!!

Such a beautiful poem, so full of hope and encouragement. It makes me want to go out and greet the day with a spring in my step and a twinkle in my eye.

This might be the only poem ever written with the word phantasmagoria in it. Now that I know what it means, I'm going to fit it into an every day conversation.

Now, now - you did not read my author's notes or you would know it is the name of a Lewis Carroll poem! :-D I love this word very much, and yes, it is one that should be said aloud and used as often as possible!! :-D thank you, Brooke

Hello,
I enjoyed this poem, and I wish this for you and yours as well as for me and mine... for everyone.
I was confused, though, as I have never seen a cinquain like this... I have written just a few, as an amatuar. Please explain the form you used here, and how it is a cinquan. For now, I will take your word for it.
Happy and good new year!
kristikim

The cinquain has the form of 2 4 6 8 2 - I did not use the whole downward turn at the end thing here - just the structure. I'm glad you enjoyed this poem, and wish you a wonderful new year, Brooke
reply by kristikim on 30-Dec-2008
It's been so long since I've attempted a cinquan, perhaps I forgot how it went... still it seemed strange, although a beautiful, meaningful statement, on its own, nonetheless. Thank you for your explanation.

I am so thankful for the allowance of authors notes. As in the previous poem I read by another writer, the notes helped get a little more information which actually finished the thought. In this we find yet more ways to stump the reader with words uncommon to the common folk. I would love to find one of those lanterns. The dancing lights would be magic, and the voices would sing with delight all through the night. And if you haven't guessed, Walt is a favorite story teller of mine, and I like his park. mstad55

How can one not love Disney? I could spend a couple weeks in Disney World and Disney Land every year - all I need is a rich widower to fund the trips! LOL Phantasmagoria is one of my favorite words - built this whole poem around it - needed an excuse to use it :-D Thanks ever so much, Brooke
reply by mstad55 on 30-Dec-2008
Yes, but do you have one of those lamps? I might just have to go antiquing and see if I can fetch me one. Of all the prizes in contests that I have never won but wanted too, this one would have been the best, I believe it was last year at Disney, they had a drawing for a week at each of the Disney parks around the world. Seven was the total. And I was thinking, Gee if I win and it's a week at each park, I wonder if the boss will let me go?
reply by the author on 30-Dec-2008
No, I have no magic lantern, but I'd love that prize too! I assume you did not win or I might have to start doing some serious flirting. LOL
reply by mstad55 on 30-Dec-2008
I'm guessing if they haven't contacted me by now that I didn't win either. But, maybe I'll start saving and make that a retirement goal, or after my one millioneth book sells, I could afford it. Off to dream land it's the witching hour. If I don't get my beauty rest, I scare the customers away. The boss hates when that happens. mike

Mike, I would hate for you to look less than dashing for your customers and boss - good night! :-) Brooke

Hello dewpearl.
"phantasmagoria" is such a beautiful word. This is a beautiful poem. Especially for a dreamer. Ups and downs come in our lives but I remain a dreamer. I think of the new possibilities. The best to you in this new year. Thanks for this lovely upbeat work. very fondly, rebecca
