The first time those words are said to someone so important are paramount. A very special moment to be savored. Very well expressed. Bravo

so many poems have been written about those three words...yet you managed to take the theme and make it fresh and heartfelt all over again.

Great work!

I honestly hope that the gist that you got wasn't that I was afraid to say them, I never had that problem, aske a poor girl who started threw her head up the the sky with her shaking hand upon it and exclaimed, "Oh my God!" I even said those words to the detriment of myself. Also I would really love to find that someone to say them again.

I read a lot of poetry that pointed me in this direction, including, "I Have No Answers ." Which I love and found moving. I got a little homesick so I watched, "Castaway," without realizing the underpinnings of love that played though it.

Thank you very much for the compliments and this review. My favorite was, "...they would rather say anything but mention the l word..." That created problems in writing poetry with a couple of members in companion poetry. I say,"too bad, too."

You are so right about this. Every morning I leave my husband a cup of coffee and make sure his alarm is set as I leave the house as the ungodly hour of 6:15. He always says "I love you" when I kiss him goodby. One day I told him how much I love hearing that every morning and it turns out he doesn't even know he says it. I'm not sure whether to be glad or sad about it! LOL.

Everyone wants to be loved, but we shouldn't treat those words lightly. I had a growing sense of the message with each line I read until the final line was released.
I like poems that say something, and this one says it in a very sound way too. Nicely done.

I agree totally with your poem. Make 'I love you' worth it when you say it, not throw it around. Although, an I love ya! is okay. The more intense moments call for a solemn "I love you." If you get my meaning. lol

The only thing I found that might be changed is:
There are only three words, everyone wants to be heard.
It sounds a bit off.
Could you use instead:
everyone wants to hear.

It doesn't trip up your wonderful flow that way.
Great job!

I wouldn't describe myself as a fan of romance poetry, but I must confess, I really like this poem.
My favorite lines:

They shouldn't cause panic and fear, or used as it's what one wants to hear.
Good job!

I always take a look at everything, though I generally might not like it. Every once in a while, I find something thought provoking. Thank you for your compliments and this review.

The rhymed quatrains don't give this poem a "singsongy" feel because the message comes directly from the heart. You have described true romantic love very well.

I appreciate the review from you. I just wanted it to be from me. I think true romantic love is at least in a figurative sense, naked before the other. No airs and no trying to make yourself something that you are not, soulmates too. Thank you very much for your compliments and this review.
