Not sure I could ever go up in one of those balloons ... I'm scared to death of heights. ~L~ But I can imagine the view would be wonderful and so peaceful. Not fast like a plane, but slowly watching the world go by. Ah, maybe one of these days ... maybe. ;) Great job!

It's at the top of my bucket list :-) I love heights, but talk worms and I understand fears :-D Thanks so much, my friend. Brooke

Brooke, You would pick on the one thing I still dream about, wouldn't you? I sit and watch them on a nice day, and I ache.
It does seem enchanted to me, as I watch from the ground. Thankyou. Pat.

WOW! adewpearl,
Beautiful poem. Geniusly structured.
Its a pleasure to read it.

This part touched me most:

"My silk balloon conveying me
past troubled shores to paradise,
for this I'd pay a princely fare
and even offer twice the price."

Very nice picture. Now I am longing to float too.
Congratulations!

I always thought this would be a wonderful thing to do. I think just floating up there in the sky would be a great thing to do.

This form of poetry sounds a bit difficult. You seem to have it down pact. It shows creativity on you part, and so the imagery feels real. I really felt like I was in the hot air balloon. Great subject matter and reading. Thanks for sharing.....Mary

This poem is so beautiful. It seems like you've had a few balloon rides that affected your creativity enough to capture the feelings you expound in this piece. Super job, Brooke!

Thanks, Rick - I've only dreamed of balloon rides - it is at the top of my bucket list. My daughter's boyfriend/now husband proposed to her during a hot air balloon ride and in doing so scored MAJOR points with his future mother in law. LOL Brooke :-)

Thanks for the introduction to the retourne poetry style, Brooke. This poem has a very graceful flow, as if it floats by on the currents carrying the balloons. Quite beautiful and fanciful. Excellent work and a very enjoyable read. :)

Make that two tickets! Well, I'd go to keep for that height thing! Scary. Beautifully musical words. To be able to float above all the woes and problems would certainly be an enchanted ride.

Such a lovely poem - I had the honor of riding in a hot-air balloon before and it was indeed majestic. Watching the city below me as I went higher and higher, the sun in the sky; one of my favorite days in memory.

As usual, your flawless meter and rhymes make this read pleasant and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing, my friend,

- TR

Ah, it sounds delicious, your flight of fancy:

I long to float through cloudless skies
to places free of flood or haze,
my silk balloon conveying me
through star-strewn nights and sun-struck days

This brings back my daydreams when my children were teenagers.

Those years of high drama, doors slamming, endless confrontations over nothing and plates on my living room sofa.

I sure would have climbed aboard with you then.

Beautifully done. The verse has a lovely lift.

Oh, so you lived through the door slamming too? LOL My son and I at one point had that down to a percussive art :-) Thanks so much, my friend. Brooke :-)

And I had a hole or two in my walls. Once my son went into the bathroom to shave and the mirror cracked. How he did it is still a mystery.
