Hey Brooke, you've really got into this bird thing! Another interesting story I'd never heard before. One learns so much more on this site than just poetry.
Another delightful read, a "real" poem, which I enjoyed very much.

adewpearl,

Well chosen words are expressive. The flow was good. The theme was excellent! Very well formatted and full of descriptive narrations.

I did locate one small error. Nothing to worry about at all. It will be a quick fix.

Everything else looks terrific!

I look forward to seeing you again.

Thank you, Oatmeal - I capitalized it as it is a word referring to Christ. Brooke :-)

And I thought the owl was a wise old bird. So many legends I've never heard. Good job of putting them in poetic form and giving another lesson in poetry at the same time. Good job, Buck

What's to say about a whimsical poem that rhymes well, is skillfully metered and smooth flowing, and recounts still another obscure but interesting birdie legend for Christmas.

'owl just say, "This one's a hoot!"

By the way, don't you need some quotation marks in your refrains and bird talk?

Good job.

I did use quotes in the end bird talk, so you're probably right that I should add it in the other places! Thanks, Amicus :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke,

Another excellent poem and a fascinating legendtold through it. I loved the image it invokes of the birds gathering and the owl doing a Thomas the Twin.

I've never heard that lovely story. It's beautifully told in your poem. Love that picture of the owl and the words, "whoo, whoo" fit right in with the story. Great job! V.A.

Brooke,
I think owl are so cool. I love your well executed reflective histogram "The legend of the Owl." The rhyme scheme and the repeating lines are wonderful. I like the lines;
'The others flew to see the King,
to bring him gifts and praises sing,
but I've been doomed to ask anew,"
I wish I had six stars to give your exceptional reflective octogram about owls.
Melissa.

PS: Here's William Blake quote about owls:
"The Bat that flits at close of Eve
Has left the Brain that won't believe.
The Owl that calls upon the Night
Speaks the Unbeliever's fright."
