Beautiful poem. I would love for my ashes to be scatter in my favorite places also. Celebrate my life. So true to celebrate not to mourn. Well written poem. Thanks, Jeanette

Jeanette, thank you for your thoughtful review, Brooke :-)

Brooke, almost everything you write is six star worthy and sadly for you, you've set the bar so high that you cannot possibly get all the stars your work deserves. This is another great example of that exceptional and growing body of work you are presenting to this site and the world. I hold you in high esteem as a writer and I just wanted you to know how I feel about your abilities as a writer.

Penny, I so want to thank you for your continued support and encouragement - you were one of the first people to make me feel welcome here and you continue that tradition - you are such a joy. Brooke :-)

I could ask you (to?)find a stream
This is a great piece, Brooke. I spent the last week cleaning up about a billion dollars of plastic crap off the graves in our park. I agree whole-heartedly.

Yes, the "to" is understood - and yes, unfortunately, many cemeteries are not cared for nearly as well as they deserve to be - thanks, Nescher :-)

Brooke you've voiced such beautiful thoughts in this poem. I love the idea of our ashes being spread on all the places we've loved during our life time. It feels like we're making one final visit. Your rhymes are wonderful and the flow is brilliant as ever. I really love it.

What a sweet request. If I were cremated, I would sure like to be scattered in so many wonderful places. The sea would be wonderful. I might have to see if a small vial could be sent to Scotland or Ireland somewhere. Then if I never make it in this life, maybe the next!
Loved the poem - well-written with great imagery and style. Thanks for sharing!

You think like my family does - my husband always wanted to visit Rome and never got to - my daughter would like to make sure some of his ashes get there some day :-) thanks, Brooke

Hi Brooke,
This is a lovely poem with a beautiful sentiment at it's heart and a wonderful way to look at the passing of a life well lived. Solid rhyming with smooth flowing meter.

This one doth deserve top honors. It is a bequeth of those who would wish for nothing more than a memory, rather than a final destination to lie and rot where worms nourish from the decay. Yes, I too, have thought that I would rather feed the earth than the inhabitants under it. What a lovely way to say, what we all fear will become of us one day. Mike

Mike - thank you!!! You are kind and generous both. It will become of us all one day, so why fear it? Brooke
