The news is so depressing, it makes me cry when I watch it.
Have you read Dean Kruch (I think his name is) latest poem - it's so lovely and touching - have a look if you've time. It's the one with the picture of the world above it. M

nomi, thank you so very much :-) My daughter doesn't get him to act out a look for a photo - she just keeps her eye out for his many delightful expressions and snaps them when it's possible. And then I use her amazing photos to inspire my poems :-) The most I ever do is encourage her to take more prop pictures where he's doing something. Brooke

This is really clever. I love the easy rhythm and simple rhymes. The non fuss structure allowed me to concentrate on the humour and the very cute narrative. This should entertain all sorts of people with a funny bone.

This has wonderful rhythm and flow. And Leander is an inspired choice of name: the tragic figure in Greek mythology who lost his way at sea when his lover's guiding light went out, and he drowned. I hear echoes of this in your poem! Your Leander is also quite a tragic figure, drowning in his own darkness, can't see the light, and tries to rob others of theirs:
'He stole their honey from the bees
and perfume from the flowers'
'He pilfered spots from butterflies'
And my favourite:
'He grabbed the hop away from frogs,
he swiped the sour from pickles,
and if a baby tried to laugh,
he took away its tickles'
What absolutely fabulous imagery!! Such a pleasure to read.

Well, now here indeed is a novelty. Humor poetry that is actually funny! That photo is priceless and the story to go with it is a scream. Now, that is just my opinion. The ones that matter live next door in the form of 4 kids, ranging from four to ten years of age. They found this piece to be absolutely hilarious. It is funnier than my silly voices and crazy old man imitations which are legendary in the neighborhood. So, there you have it. I think you should write some children's books if you haven't already. Well, now here indeed is a novelty. Humor poetry that is actually funny! That photo is priceless and the story to go with it is a scream. Now, that is just my opinion. The ones that matter live next door in the form of 4 kids, ranging from four to ten years of age. They found this piece to be absolutely hilarious. It is funnier than my silly voices and crazy old man imitations which are legendary in the neighborhood. So, there you have it. I think you should write some children's books if you haven't already.
