Hello alexdardiner, This poem is a piece of your finest work. It's been a while since I've read a poem that has pulled on my heart strings and brought tears to my eyes in a way that this poem did.
Especially:
Stull, I'll try wae ma clumsy heart,
Which jumps a beat whin we are apart.
(Alex, when I read the above, my owned heart stopped and so did the reading. I just had to "sit and be" and think, before I could continue with reading the poem.)
And:
Yer Bonny face noo laughs at ma stupid jokes,
(The bond and history that ties two hearts.)
Also:
Oh ma lass ma Golden lass a see yea there like a bonny fluer,
a'll think o' yea ma Bonny lass ivery day, an' ivery single 'oor.
(And your memories will see you through.)
And:
Noo sum twenty sum years hiv flashed by Lass,
an' yer stull that Bonny lass, an' a work o' sculptured class.
Alex, this poem is a beautiful declaration of love and adoration. I was not able to use the audio. However, I've heard you recite so many of your fine poems that I could hear your voice as I read this poem.
Thank Heaven for twenty years of love. It's good to see you in print again. Sincerely, LateBloomer

Hi alexgardiner,
It's quite a beautiful poem, even more to hear your reading of it. I studied the Scottish accent when I studied Theater in college. I was considered the best at it, but alas, I can't do it very much now.
Hope your bonny lass keeps getting better. I bet she loved this poem!
Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
smiles,

I loved that. I think poems should be read like that. We would get to know the cadence of each one. Great job indeed. And a love story to boot.

Hi Alex,
It's good to have you back and I hope your lass is doing much better now. You have penned a beautiful poem about love. Your well chosen words are expressive, the lines flow freely down the page, your AA/BB rhyme is excellent and I love the theme. Well done, chey

For some reason the wee wee button didn't work on my computer. But the poem itself is really wonderful. I took my time and read it the way you spoke and loved every second of it.

Hi, Alex - haven't seen you around for a while - I am very pleased to hear the good news expressed in this poem.
The piece itself is full of the strongest emotion and would surely bring a tear or two to the eye of the intended recipient, your bonny lass - it is an extremely touching pouring out of your love for her and worth every one of the six stars.
All the best.
Steve

I absolutely loved this poem - and I am so glad to have found this post from you. It's been awhile since I read one of yours. I'm stunned that you felt a need to 'explain' your choice of using Scottish vernacular in your writing. Don'tcha dare change a thing about what you do. I wonder if Robbie Burns had negative reviews from unelightened readers about his insistance of embracing his gaelic accent. I guess so - but the nay-sayer didn't hold him back. Don't let anyone push you off your square.
So glad to hear that your lass is on the mend. The love you feel for her permeates this poem.
It's wonderful.
Rose.
