Hey brooke,

Yep, the penquins are terrific creatures to watch. Despite not walking very well, it's astounding the territory they must cover sometimes in order to give birth.

You certainly chose a picture of clownish penquins! Thanks so much for sharing this jovial portrait with us!

smiles,

deb

Hi, Broooke, What message do I hear? Well, I hear the message that we all have strengths and weaknesses, and we should be aware of that in ourselves and others. Also, penguins are fun to watch and seem to have very fun-filled lives, and I want to be a penguin. Love it! Mary

I love the penguins too. I love to go to see world and watch them in a more natural environment. They are so cute. A great little poem. Well done.

Thanks, Joy - I haven't found a single soul yet who has said, Pigeons, I don't really care for them myself. :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke! What a cute poem. Do you ever see a cartoon called "Penguins of Madascar"? My fav...the little birds are so onery! The only cartoon I like anymore. But your poem is just as enjoyable!! :) Susan

Yes, I know of the cartoon but can't say I ever really followed it. Thanks so much, Susan. Brooke :-)

Brooke, you are so right. Penquins are special and different birds that don't even seem as if they should be called birds. The artwork you chose was great. Very funny. Patti :)

A poem of incredible depth. This is why I love your work, Brooke. You usually educate or make a statement of importance, concerning some issue in the world. Here, I see you question our common beliefs of birds and flight. Conceptions are powerful. Remove one, and you have to start removing others.

Thanks for this lovely post. I love penguins.

Regards, anabelle

I take this to mean you should make the most of what you have and use it to full potential.
My late husband had that attitude down pat. One year when we had wood cutters felling trees, he would coax me outdoors to watch one particular guy who "uses his chainsaw like a conductor handles a baton". He was so appreciative of skills, whatever these might be. That's what your little poem brings to mind.
I love the images of the toddling penguin being transformed to a graceful swimmer in his natural environment. Good one, Brooke.

I have always been appreciative of skills like that too - I consider my auto mechanic a genius - the world is filled with people who do their thing well, even if it is different from my thing. Hey, I don't need the people who do my thing! LOL Thanks, Adrienne :-) Brooke

Oh what a delight to read your latest offering. However I am more delighted by seeing the picture. This morning in the dense San Diego fog, I thought I had run over a Nun with my car. However now I can see that it was a penquin. I should have realized that at first since I was driving in the Sea World vicinity. Now I can go back and clean up the mess...thanks!

Dave, you are relieved you only murdered a penguin? How cold-hearted of you. LOL Thanks for the review and the laugh, my friend :-) Brooke

Brooke,

This is an excellent poem, a splendid, humorous ditty about penguins. I enjoyed reading it and couldn't find anything to criticize. From your description, it's easy to see why penguins have been such favorites as comic-book and cartoon characters.
