Hello Brooke.
I admire the way you've woven greeting and parting, receiving and relinquishing, and the exploration of the living sea... with the tide that will come to us to ultimately reveal the most splendid prize of all. This is what I read here, and it is no simple poem. Exceptional!
Thanks for this challenging and enjoyable read. Now I'm aware of the florette as well.
Sincerely, Rebecca

Thank you, Rebecca. This is only the second florette I've written, but it is a form I'll definitely use again :-) Brooke

Again, great work and a great lesson. I love learning about the different styles of poetry. I never knew there were so many. This poem is VERY cool. I am as usual impressed with your use of words in a confined set of rules.

Ravona, thank you. Did I just spell your name right? There are a bazillion forms - I still haven't tried many of them :-) Brooke

I am pleased that you tried your hand a another florette. The form is challenging but fascinating. You created a lovely mood and the words "neath" and "morrow" fit it so well. Your end and internal rhymes were quite strong and you even added alliteration. Brava!

Thank you, Joan. The contest reminded me I had not written a second one yet - it is a lovely form :-) Brooke

This poem has me longing for summer when I can hunt for sea treasures. Considering the foot or more of snow that just fell here, it's just plain mean. Ha ha. Just kidding, of course. Very nice imagery and great form.

Thank you, Raven - I've seen enough snow to take to my death bed.
I am so ready for beaches and swimming holes and buttercups! LOL Brooke :-)

Thanks, Brooke, for sharing the information about the florette poem. It is very helpful to know what the author is doing. As usual, your picture is beautiful. Obviously you are a beach-comber. Makes me wonder if you might live on the Oregon Coast. We've spent very happy hours there. I love the ocean, especially from those beaches. I was born in Oregon. Best to you, Marjie

Thank you, Marjie. No, sadly most my beach combing has been done at the Jersey shore other than on vacations - I live near Philly. Believe me, you don't find a chambered nautilus in Jersey. LOL Brooke

Tide pools here in San Diego are beautiful, just like the one you so aptly described here, especially in La Jola. However we are expecting very high wave today and a Tsunami warning is out. The waves which were caused by the horrible earth quake in Chile are expected to hit the West Coast, and the worst should be La Jolla. So I wrote all this to let you know I won't be pool watching today. Just get in my brand new-old charger and renew old memories.

Dave, please stay safe. I have only been to San Diego a few times, but it is just one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I hate to think of any of it being ravaged. Thanks for your review :-) Brooke

Brooke,

This is an excellent poem about walking along the seashore and seeing what the tide has left. Many years ago, my wife's family often visited Sanibel Island and looked for seashells when the tide was out. That was ages ago, when the island was still mostly wild. It's wall-to-wall condos now.

Brooke, this is just wonderful! I love watching what the waters bring to us and sift through the sand. An Internet friend in New Jersey sent me a bunch of sea glass, how beautiful in its many hues! I'm displaying it in a crystal bowl near my window. This kind of poem I love to read, thanks for posting. . .Sharon

A lovely florette about the surprises that the tides bring to us then take away. There is something renewing about being near the water. And there is still such a mystery about the creatures that call it home.
