I don't know why, Brooke, but this reminds me of a section of a read we were asked to memorize in HS lit class:
the early morning was punctured by faint, uncer-
tain cries that seemed mere fireflies of sound, some
growing louder, some fainter, amid the rumble of infrequent cars. Shrill cries they were when near -- well-known cries that conveyed many meanings to the ears of those of the slumbering millions of the great city who chose to hear them- -
I can't remember all of it and am not sure I got it right- - and it probably isn't appropriate to this piece, but thought of it as I read this well=written call to worship. Would that we could all hear it clearly and respond.
That call to arise and come.
thank you. RoS

I am not familiar with the piece but it sounds beautiful and I'm honored you would think of it while reading my poem, Rose of Sharon :-) Thank you!! Brooke

Nicely written with a good message.
Thanks for sharing.
Inside
our steeple's walls
brass belfry bells await
that moment they'll reverberate
to send into the world with boisterous sound
God's invitation we be bound
to answer their clear call
to celebrate
inside.

The more I read rictameters, the more I like them. This is, as always beautifully written. I like the message it sends too. I always get a kick out of counting syllables on my fingers like a little kid in school. Thank goodness we have ten! Very nice work.

There is a lot of piece to be found in a church. Many people just go there in thought. When I was a kid church played a large part in my life.

Brooke, you are the premier poetess. The artwork reminds of the mission chapels in San Juan Capistrano - very beautiful just like your words.

Lola, thank you - the art inspired the poem - this is one of my favorite artists on the site, the same one who did the bluejay. Brooke :-)

Perfect rictameter - complete message. I see absolutely nothing to say but good things about this poem. This quality writing is the norm for you.

thank you, Sunny - I started this one over a day before I finished it - I would give up and walk away and then go back - I have no idea how many versions it went through, so I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your generous and gracious rating!! Brooke :-)

I can hear joyful church bell
music in the background of this
poem. You've stated quite well the
meaning of the church bells as they
announce the call to celebrate.
Very nicely done! Carolyn

Very nicely penned, makes perfect sense and rhythm to me. I enjoyed each line and it is near perfect in its execution. Heck, it is perfect, what am I saying? Cheers, Don

Had you not said that I might have had to do myself in because this poem practically killed me getting it right! This is perhaps version number 50, number 1 having been crumpled up yesterday morning. LOL Thank you, Don :-) Brooke
Thanks, Don. Brooke :-)

Love this poem, Brooke. Love anything that speaks highly of our houses of worship, and our invitation to "celebrate inside".
Love your "brass belfry bells, reverberate, boisterous" alliteration.
