Brooke - We used to have several nests of hummingbirds in my area. I had several feeders in the yard and one at my office window for year. I saw them quite often during the summer months when plants are not flowering. I don't see them as often as I used to see them. Enjoyed your poem. Charlie

This isn't contrasting like other septolets, but it is still very good! I like how you manage to create a beautiful scene in so few words. Great job!

I liked this septolet, Brooke, but it isn't my favorite of yours. Of course given that it is a structured poem, you are limited in what you can write. For a septolet it is very good. You have a lot of message in just 14 words and for that I say good job- sam

Your words paint a hummingbird perfectly.. and
the picture is so lovely -- thank you, Brooke.
We have several photos of hummingbirds
in flight, which we took on a visit to
Calafornia some years back -- I was amazed
how tiny and perfect they were -- but equally
so they were quite aggressive with each other -
territorial most likely.
A wonderful read on a beautiful day -- such a nice
way to start it.
Margaret.

Short and sweet! There is nothing quite as wondrous as a hummingbird! It hovers, like a small miracle. Can't wait for them to return. Thanks for the reminder. Must get my feeder out. Great work, Brooke.

this a very short piece of poetic thought, but very well written. I have sat and watched in amazement a hummingbird fly and hover in place. They really are amazing creatures. This was just a joy to have read and reviewed... John

When I saw the title I couldn't wait to start reading. The hummingbird is such an amazing creature. The've already started coming to my garden and I bought a new camera the other day hoping to catch a good pic.
I son't have a Rose of Sharon in my garden but I look at them every year at the nursery. I reaaly ought to buy one.
Youu right such beautiful septolets and this one is as lovely as the rest. It was a pleasure to read.
You've found a fabulous piece of art to match. Well done!

Annelisa, thanks so much. There are ten plants I found on lists of those grown specifically to attract hummingbirds, and this is one of them. If you want more hummingbirds, it's a good idea :-) Brooke

They really love my pineapple sage with it's flute-like red flowers. I love to watch them dance from flower to flower ijn my garden. It's truly one of life's special moments.
-
yes, flute-like flowers are among their favorite :-)

Brooke,
doesn't matter if this is a chinquipen, a loricet, or a sepulum, it was still a great poem, my friend. Excellent piece of writing.

It is a form I've only been writing for a few months, but I love it! Thanks, Brooke :-)
Only a few months and it came out that good? Congratulations.
Sincerely,
Kathy

I think it's a form I have a natural affinity for - my first one, inspired by a contest, won the contest :-)
Holy S----! You go girl!
Kindly,
