Also, a good contest entry Brooke. Looks like I'm off to a slow start. The artwork you used sure brings back some memories. I have had the distinction of moving to places and that winter, they would have the worst winter in history. It's that black cloud over my head. Good luck in the contest.

Rob, thank you! It's my first ever cinquain, and did not submit until a half hour before deadline as it took forever to think of a subject where I could do the rise and fall thing - I won't just do syllable count. You're most kind, Brooke

We have snow in our forecast also. For us that is not very often down here. Hope you stay warm. Great poem. Thanks, Jeanette

Jeanette - thank you! Staying warm involves many layers of clothing and a blanket over the lap - today we're supposed to get 4 inches of rain!!! Yuck, but at least it isn't a foot of snow! Brooke

No one should ever have their view obscured of you and your critters. First of all..they may run you over as they go merrily on their way. And secondly, number one suffices. Very good.

thank you, Donovan - one more half hour of fretting and I would have missed the deadline - I never enter form contests, but this is sponsored by a talented friend, but two seconds after I reserved a spot I started having second thoughts - I'm so pleased you think my first cinquain turned out OK. You're sweet, as always. Brooke

Great image selection. Your title fits it perfectly. By midwinter, if my mailbox was outside like that (and not on my porch) it would look like that. Good presentation and color scheme. The near pure greyscale is perfect for this image. The words are a perfect description of what is seen in the image. Excellent.

Good luck in the contest!

Gert, yes, your Vermont must already have had some lovely snow by now - we've just had dustings - thanks for your positive review! Brooke

this is my first cinquain - I signed up for the contest a few minutes after it was posted and finally had the nerve to write this less than an hour before the submission deadline! glad you think it worked out! we've only had dustings so far this season, but maybe day after tomorrow they say. I'm ready to move far away from snow. Brooke

I did it with minutes to spare! LOL You don't know how close I came to sending you an apology instead! You are so kind - I've been expecting you to scold me all day long!!! Brooke

I would never do that, sometimes we enter something and realize we shouldn't have but force it anyway. You didn't do that, your Cinquain is lovely and had the turn very nicely done. Probably one of the stronger entries. Going to be a hard one to judge.

I'm just glad to have an entry at all!!! and I won't post something just to meet deadline - I have reserved spots before never to enter something - I won't embarrass myself. :-)

Hello Brooke.
While I've never tried one, you sure seem to have the Cinquain down. I love the pristine picture painted by your words here. Great luck to you in this contest. IMHO you have a strong one. fondly, rebecca

I have it down - you're making me laugh. I signed up for this contest shortly after it was posted as I chatted with the sponsor, a friend. That was days and days ago - I entered it with a half hour to go before deadline because I had no blasted idea what to write a cinquain about that could have that fall at the end!! Oh, deadlines sure are useful. thanks ever so much for this confidence booster. Brooke

Well you made me laugh with that response Brooke. I tell you I loved it.
    It is a wonderful Cinquain.

till drifts pile high and soon obscure
--having lived on the west coast all my life, never got to experience this. Would like to. Maybe have to winter in Ohio or Mass where my brother lives.

Good poem.

Brian, snow is highly overrated!! LOL It is pretty to see a few times, but hell to walk in or drive in - I am ready to move to warmer climes. :-) Thank you, Brooke
