Hi :)
I hand counted 100 words too!
Great entry to the contest. I enjoyed the theme of oaths, both broken and kept and the marriage vow 'til death us do part' was a clever way to conclude. I can't think if anything more terrifying than being buried alive...
10/10 for a horror flash - not too gory but definitely horrific!
Good luck in the voting booth :) Kind regards, Debra

    Hah-ha, thanks, Deborah. It's always nice to know that someone has your back.

    I abstained from gore purposely in this write. Gore is not horror, and some borders on the fringe of horror porn. Not my cup of tea. Things that cause fear and dread in us are the things we see and do every day. But, when our safe and cozy little worlds get toppled on their pretty little heads, well...that's when the fun really begins.
    Thanks again for reading and your thoughtful comments. It is appreciated... :}

Very chilling, with amazing pictures to match. No small achievement in just one hundred words. Very best of luck with the contest.

Hi....

Excellent story.
Super artwork to drive it home.
You last two lines are 'killer.'
This should be a good contender entry.

Good luck.
Cheers & Blessings

You know that there is probably at least a five hours of oxygen in that pine box. So get used to being together-briefly. The italicized my says it all. Must be a Vegas style divorce. Scary stuff and excellent photo. You can really feel the earth pressing down. Is it a movie still? I would say Kill Bill, but that does not look like Uma Thurman.

    Thanks, Ed, and the artwork is actually a cover for a story in a horror anthology, which is a modern, updated version of Poe's classic tale, The Black Cat. I very much appreciate your review, and have a great Memorial Day weekend. :)

Wow! I know this is a contest with a low word count, but this would make a wonderful, full length story. It is very well written and interesting. It definitely held my attention and it was exciting to read. I enjoyed this. It was excellent, my friend.

Always with respect,

    Thanks, Eigle Rule, and I'm pleased to know that it held your interest. That's the great thing about flash and micro fiction in this gotta have it now, microwave popcorn world of instant gratification. If you do it right, you can still scare the bejeezus outta someone, and only take about a minute to do it.
    Thanks again for your thoughtful review, my friend. It is appreciated. :}

Ha! I guess you could call that karma. I'd be more inclined to call it revenge that dish best served cold and served cold it was indeed.

I wonder what karma this fella has coming his way now? I bet you that would be another interesting story. That's the funny thing about karma it keeps going around.

Very scary. And totally excellent entry into the horror contest.

Best of luck to you. This is a good one.

Gloria

    Thanks, Gloria. I guess our hero figures he'll cross his own karma bridge when he comes to it. Right now, he's got some digging to do, lol...
    I very much appreciate your comments. Thanks! :}
