Brooke,

Sounds like you're retired. It has been so peaceful for me without having to deal with office politics.

I enjoyed this poem and couldn't find anything to criticize.

Dave

Well done Brooke, another beautifully penned piece. Love to visit my peaceful place when things get hectic and out of control. Gotta love that "Peaceful Place".

A beautiful calming poem about peace and quiet. Life can get you down - if you allow it to. If we remember we can withdraw our mind from the rush, noise and stress of everyday life and learn to relax and meditate "escape to our peaceful place" then upon return to "the rat race" we will be calm and able to allow troubles flow over us without being caught up in the current. sometimes we also try to do too many things at once, thinking we are invincible, but eventually we become so run down it is even hard to unwind and relax. We can stop Anxiety developing in the first place if we but take time out to relax, be tranquil and seek "my peaceful place - where I go in my mind to meditate."

The end of the 2nd verse could also be understood to mean someone who has succumbed to the rigours of life and work and given up everything - suicided - the only way they thought of to escape.

Your poem flows well - this style suits the topic because you are able to bring our attention back to the topic throughout the poem. Easy unforced rhymes and rhythm

Yes, we all can use a place of quiet retreat. I see that you picked up the octogram form posed by a fanstorian. Well done. Best of luck with your writing this new year.

Brooke,Happy New Year to you.

I enjoyed the tone of this poem. It conveys calm fitting of the title "My Peaceful Place".

When chaos reigns,
I think you've capture how overwhelming chaos can be in the choice of "reigns", there's a sense of permanency to it. I know when I experience chaos, it seems never ending, one hammer strike after another.

a voice that counsels soothing rest
instead of courting one last quest
I love the placement and sound of these two lines.

Oh that's a nice one. I think we all need to have that peaceful place to retreat to when life has gone mad around us. Very nicely worded and as always that beautiful smooth meter.

Hi Brooke,
No matter what type poem this is, I really enjoyed it. It is written so well and is so very descriptive. I love quiet time. I think some people are not happy with themselves and can't spend time alone with themselves. Anyway, it's a beautiful poem and the art work you chose is perfect.
Your friend,
Patti :)

Just a note: I am Patti, not Jo Lynn. I have made this mistake several times - not to worry.

A fine 'recipe' for most of us in this hectic world. So far I used 'count to ten' in times of 'chaos' but maybe I might try to find 'my peaceful place' as suggested by you, Brooke. Seriously, I think this octogram contains a valuable lesson of easing anxiety with 'a gentle grace'. Hey, how come I borrow so many of your words? Hope you don't mind...
