Hi,
The artwork you chose for this is great. It really sets off the poem. I like how bold and descriptive this work is in such a small package. The fresh memorials makes me think of our soldiers now that in this war. May all war end one day. Nice work.

Gorgeous poppies and gorgeous haiku... reminded me so much of robert service's In Flander's Fields. Excellent sentiments. Perfect poem picture pair. Well done.

Your wildflower series just keeps growing more beautiful and now luminescent. Those poppies pop off the page with their brillance. I can't believe the quality of the photographs you find. The quality matches that of your superb haikus. Good going Brooke.

What a stunning presentation, and such an important subject: we can never honor our veterans too much! Perfect Haiku form, and just love that you used the word "florid"--there r so many beautiful, descriptive words that r seldom used. Kudos....later and God bless, shy

The picture is beautiful and goes with the poem well. The poppy in this poem is a symbol for freedom and the sacrifice men made for it.

Beautiful haiku. The red poppies of Memorial Day, I can remember buying them for a nickel in grade school. The picture fits the poem beautifully. Great job. Shirley

florid poppies bloom
where blood once flowed for freedom
fresh memorials
--florid is a strong word... matches the blood that flowed from brave soldiers.
Very good images... very poignant and timely.
Well done.

Hello Brooke,
And a very wonderful tribute it is. This is a nice Haiku in itself, but the remembrance adds just that much more to it.
Count was perfect.

Hello Brooke, I knew this haiku hit me like a ton of brickes and then you mentioned Flanders Field. That's why, or maybe it is just that it is beautiful. See, didn't I tell ya.
Angels to watch over you,
Through the night, Linda

Wow, I love this! You have a beautiful picture and even though there are few words, which is the purpose, it says a lot. Very nice job! Thank you for sharing.
