wow, what a poem, Brooke! It was brilliant! Perfect imagery and wording. I like the "if" lines the most. They sounded very urgent. Great work!

This is a wonderful poem. I love the images it inspires. I live in the Evergreen State, but I still get to enjoy the autumn colors. I remember the surprise I had really seeing the hills dotted with colors for the first time, driving to the pumpkin patch. I love living in a place where I can enjoy all the seasons. Thank you for reminding me of autumn.
Barbara - who's waiting for the snow to start falling despite what my sweetie wants.

Hello there
Apparently effortless: great pace and rhythm.
The 'simple' play on 'ever green' for the ending is so clever.
I can add nothing that has not already been said.
Good luck at the booth
cheers

Brooke, as always, you write so exquisitely. Your descriptive poem conjures up the beauty of autumn, and yes, let's hope autumn never disappears. None of the seasons for that matter, as they all have their own beauty. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest. Warmnest regards, Marijke :o)

adewpearl:
You have certainly captured the essence of autumn
in these quatrains. In my area, we are seeing less
and less of four seasons and tend to go from summer
through a very short fall to winter to a very short
spring to summer to a very short fall, etc. I will
say, however, that our trees turned in mid-November
this year and were especially beautiful.
thanks for sharing
