Experience has taught me well that more then hope on wings can fly and so ive come to bid farewell. That was a great Idea.

Dear Brooke,
Again a gem and, in particular, the line that really shines is:

to love that paused but passed me by.

The flow and the gentle alliteration is great.
Regards
Reg

Brooke - You make it sound so easy to write this poem, but I know otherwise. It has such a natural feel in its flow and rhyme. Kind of lke a conversation. I'm impressed.

This is a superb Dickensonian-like poem, Brooke...and one which contains a surprisingly poignant sentiment from you. I loved the flow and rhymes in this one as well as the haunting tone of resignation.

Dear friend, do wallow a bit in whatever loneliness and disappointment surrounds you, as we all must from time to time, but then please remember love does prevail...love is a verb, something one does; not a noun, something one gets...and you are, I have no doubt, still a lover...and the dance ain't over until the music stops. :>)

A very enchanting and touching poem that I liked very much. Good imagery, flow, pace. I can just feel this. Would recommend to others. Into each life some pain must come. I once believed also. Now I believe in someone much stronger and loving. My Lord and Savior Jesus. Queenise

What an awesome little poem. I really think it is one of those poems that we can read a lot into, but then again, it has its own surface quality that works as well. I still do believe in fairy tales, by the way. I like the line, "more than hope on wings can fly." It leaves open so many possibilities, yet we get the impression that whatever is flying on those wings, it is a possitive thing because it is there in place of the hope. The idea of "love that paused but passed me by" is quite sad. I guess some feel it's better to have loved and lost, but I'd rather love and keep him. Great work on this poem. Your meter is perfect, and keeps the piece flowing nicely to the end. Very nice!

Outstanding. Very interesting that I was just writing about that as well, not as powerful as your and not in rhyme at all. I just worry to post it here, since I get slammed.
You words are fling on wings!

Thank you so much, my friend. I am sorry that you've been "slammed." I dislike reviewers who are not constructive and tactful in their criticism. You are most kind and generous. Brooke :-)

Your poetry so often reminds me of Emily Dickinson's and this is one that definitely does. Your lines and rhymes are more consistently even than hers, but your thoughtful word selections and deep thoughts so uniquely expressed, as well as the metaphors from nature, are definitely Dickinson. This is beautifully done and such a pleasure to read and to hear.

Brooke,

This is an excellent poem about someone who loved passed by. I enjoyed this post and couldn't find anything to criticize. We all start out sorta green, or wet behind the ears.
