Ulla, you are killing me! Stop keeping me in suspense. Get to the crunch--I want to hear about your father. He sounds handsome and charming. It's easy to see how a young girl was swept off her feet. I hope he didn't use your mother as a one-night stand before disappearing; that would be terrible for her--and you.

Now that's more like it. Some explanation and handsome man that literally swept her off her feet. Sounds like Harlequin Romance stuff. I like how you describe the pauses and the emotions in them. At this point you're just a spectator, and that's fine. I think that's awesome that you're willing to step aside and let your mum tell the story at her own pace without interrupting.
Can't wait to hear the rest.
