Excellent artwork for this most elegant piece you have expertly crafted. I do love all four seasons of the year and what each one has to offer. Of course here in Texas, we often get all four seasons in one day LOL! God Bless!

A stark and wonderful display of the transition of autumn in winter's glare. The imagery is powerful and there is almost a human-like quality to the desription. Well done, Brooke.

What can I say,you do have the skill to write such beautiful forms of poetry. I love the imagery you use throughout as well as the rhyme and alliteration.

A courageous poem; it could be an elegy to the harshness and frailty of nature but there is nothing melancholic about it because of the warm beauty of the lines. All culminates in the last verse though I like to Winter as the season of preservation and preparation of spring. All written in the poet's inimitable style. -Ekim 777

Hi Brooke, Your poem is very beautiful, such a joy to read. it has wonderful imagery. I believe you have kept to what is required for this contest. I love it, especially the last stanza.
The garments of autumn are golden and red
until her apparel is savagely shed.
How bleak is the prospect, how deep is the grief
when winter comes calling to steal the last leaf.
good luck in the contest, Mary.

I love this one. It's really emotional as her fragility is described with words like quiver, tremble, stripping her limbs bare, etc. It ends with such sadness.

I really like this line: "until her apparel is savagely shed.", especially the alliteration in the last two words. Really nicely done. I stumble on the last two words a bit compared to the plow of the rest but it is a beautiful piece ... with really nice presentation.

Lovely poem, dear B. Rich and layered with fine imagery
'
What an eloquent opening line!
The raiment of autumn is crimson and bronze,
read that aloud three times. Delicious!
Good consonance and alliteration in net three lines:
but stark is the color the winter soon dons,
and once all the fire of her garments is gone,
the world's left to quiver, no way to keep warm.
Nice alliteration of We and L and C and nice personification here too:
The winds of the winter will strip her limbs bare
and leave her to tremble with little to wear
just when she most needs to be kept from the cold
and all of its forces so cruel and bold.
Nice alliteration of G and A and and consonance of R:
The garments of autumn are golden and red
until her apparel is savagely shed.
Superb assonance of E, EA and IE sounds so it almost feels like internal rhyme:
How bleak is the prospect, how deep is the grief
when winter comes calling to steal the last leaf.
Eloquent closing lines too.
This meter is flawless. Fine rhyming too. Excellent presentation as well.
With all those seamlessly woven superb musical phonetics noted above I recipe with excellent imagery and personification, this is a remarkable poem to read aloud.
Bravo!
Warmly, rd
