I understand why this entry won the contest. So beautifully written with elegant dialogue. I really like that I was able to connect Willow's anger with our own human nature where other's are judged by appearance alone. Differences are often not tolerated or respected. Aging is not acceptable when one's perception of beauty changes. Excellent work, mikey. Absolutely blown away by this one.

I enjoyed this piece. Plants and trees are living and sustaining to us all. As a child, I put my hands on the bark of a black walnut tree and felt its pulse. It seemed so alive to me. I also talked to it, telling it all my woes and hopes. It sustained me through a rough childhood.

I have to hand it to you. People communicating with plants. Somehow, you captured the thought processes of non-animal life. This is an exceptional piece. it deserves a place of honor in your portfolio. It also seems to me that this story could be written as a lovely poem. Congratulations.

Nice entry for this prompt. Very ingeniously written. Definitely deserves to be a contest winner. I noticed a difference in the apostrophes in the phrase below.

"green thumber',

Well done!

Michael: Wow! I am flabbergasted! Original idea and fascinating conversation with the willow. I've hear and believe that talking to and touching your plants helps them grow. We are all living entities on this planet so should communicate. A delightful read. Congratulations on your contest win. livelylinda

Oh, what a charming story! I certainly see how this won the contest, Mikey - congratulations! Poor, poor Willow. She's lonely for her friend, Toady. Agricula shouldn't have removed him...sigh...(LOL)

What a plot! Great fun and entertainment>:0)

Hi Mikey

A wonderful tale, so gentle, very much in the 'tone' a Willow might take. A touch of lament and sadness in a tree that weeps so. As a child I loved the Willow, there was one on the border of our backyard ... no fences to separate us then. The shade and privacy and the 'feel' as one sat below ... the perfect place to be shaded from the hot sun and day dream or read or tell secrets to a special friend.

Well written this just flowed as natural as a Wisteria curling its tendrils around the branches of that Oakey. A sweet and charming conversation between gardener and plant ... a great learning for Agricula as she develops greater awareness about her plants.

An excellent entry for the contest and a worthy winner. Love how these just flow out of that creative imagination of yours. A delightful painting to accompany your work ... a perfect complement. Unique and something quite different. Engaging and entertaining and leaves the reader with a smile despite the lament of the Willow and its POV. Well done. Hugs - Lovi xoxoxo

Congrats, Mikey. You've put a lot of thought and wisdom into this tale. I kept expecting you to break out with some sort of humour but you kept the narrative rolling and it's a touching read. The characters unfold nicely and you give the plants depth with backstory and dialogue. There are some nice sentimental moments appropriate to the prompt.Well done.

Thank you so much. I enjoyed writing this quite a bit. It was somewhat inspired and just came to me. I didn't have my usual desire to throw some crazy humor into it. I'm pleased that it came across as sincere. It was. :) mikey

Looks like an oil painting, which I greatly admire. I love this image. I like the special container box. Nice choice in a title name. Noticed the w alliteration. Good story to boot. This will be a strong contender in my book. You have shoook the cherry tree full of blossoms. This is killer! The women ought to like this one. Good luck Lion King. do loco count your doubloon.

Hey, my friend. Pleased you enjoyed. This one came to me in a flash. I was surprised. A gift I suppose. I like it myself. I love that painting, a big fan of oils too. If you're ever out this way, a trip to Pasadena's in order. My favorite, "The Tragic Muse" at the Huntington Library. A cool painting for sure. mikey
