A nice picture and a chilling succinct thought expressed-excellent. Although this is kinda like taking a handout. Talk about an easy review. Five stars indeed.

The last look at perfection through tired eyes of pure mortals,
Will we awake to see the rising of the sun or sleep for eternity?

Beautiful picture of perfection in the sunset and a good question for us all to ponder. We don't know when our last breath will be, so we should cherish every moment and make sure we are prepared for eternity.

This poem shouts awareness to me. You either become aware of the light, or you will remain in darkness. This poem has an excellent metaphor for life. I enjoyed reading this short two line poem. It Made me think about the thoughts you have garnered here... John

I vote for eternal sleep. Life is exhausting. Very thought provoking piece. Perfection and purity are unobtainable abstract concepts, and in the case of purity, potentially dangerous. We are all in God's hands...to me that means we are
all subject to the whims of random fate.

I like the complex question and depth in this very short piece. To make such a statement and image in such few words is great. This is something we all wonder about, we certainly aren't none promised tomorrow. Beautiful photo to accompany! I enjoyed much!

Sorry to give only three stars, but this seems to short and too prosaic to work for me as a poem. Although the sentiment expressed is fine, there isn't much poetic technique on display, and I think that's crucial (since that is what separates poetry from prose).

To ponder as the sun is setting, the mortality of man
and the beauty that surrounds us her on earth, has
been poetic inspiration through the ages. You have
wrapped it up nicely with the question of what the
future holds.

deepwater: Wow! Such words of wisdom, such depth of thinking, such originality. Yes, we are in God's hands. Having spent the last 18 years with coronary heart disease and the last year in congestive heart failure, I often ask myself, "will I awake or sleep for eternity". I understand and deal with this every day. Superb writing. Six star worthy but I'm out. livelylinda

Yes. The pic and the words are perfect for each other. We never know if we will be here tomorrow. We live on hope. Reflective thought here for others to think about. Good.
