A very different subject for you? Some women can be deadly black widows. Some people don't give a damn about people's feelings - been there and felt that. We give our all, wear our heart on our sleeves; silently, behind our backs the centre of our love and attention is having a good laugh at our feelings - how cruel they can be. What we give we get back threefold - eventually. Well done mate.

There are some deep trenches in my mind, Kay, thought I would bring some to the top! LOL, so many of you have said that. But I am pleased you liked this one, we always call the man the villain, but there are just as many cold hearted women out there. Thank you and big hugs for the 6 stars!! xsx Sandra

How are you? I am trying to get back into life again. I have received an appointment now with the surgeon for the 16th May, normally it is within a month after that the op takes place. The 16th is my mums Birthday. My life always hits on important dates. Weird. xxxx

Glad you are seeing the surgeon. You can't suffer too long; our wait list is up to 4 years. My back is terrible, can't write much, morphine helps. My hernia is encroaching on the bowel and Dr wants me to make a decision - after 27 ops. I'm not keen to go again. Love, Kay.

Wow, seems like he found one nasty, mean lady to lose his heart over. Your poem is well written and I enjoyed the story in your verses.
Smiles,
Karyn : )

Thank you, Karyn. There are some pretty ruthless women out there, it's not always the men who are the rotten ones. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. :) Sandra

I think perhaps, unrequited love is not as bad as unrequited love that is publicly rejected, leaving the rejected suitor destroyed in soul and spirit! The descriptive language in this poem is well written, the rhyme is cleverly creative, the meter is reasonably even! Blessings, Roy.

It is the worst, I think I would want to curl up and die if it had happened to me. But there are some pretty nasty women out there and some even worse than the men. Thank you, Roy, for your lovely review. :) Sandra

A sad but realistic look at a failed romance. Unrequited love brings a pain like no other and destroys confidence. I like the format of this poem, with its sonnet-like creation. Another great piece of writing, nicely done. Peter

Unrequited love is a hardship that most people can relate to easily, though the style in which it is portrayed often varies. This is truly a heart wrenching tale to tell. In the long run, I'd wager she did him a favor by not tying him down to such a ball & chain such as herself. I hope today he is much happier with the right woman. Well written.

Your perceptions are spot on, who would really want to live with a cold hearted person like this. Women can be just as cold as some men, and either way it is awful. Thank you so much for this lovely review, Willowsong, I am so pleased you liked it. Sandra xsx

It was my absolute pleasure :)...and you're right, that kind of apathy flows both ways.

A very nicely told story in rhyme. I doubt this lady would recognize love if it hit her in the face. The picture goes well with the story. Blessings. barbara

This is nicely rhymed with all lines rhyming in each verse and set to an even meter. It describes a person who ruthlessly hurt another in the game of love and feels no remorse.

Well written. This touches home for me because my uncle fell in love with a woman when I was a kid and when he proposed was told she only did it to win a bet. I remembered how bad I felt at the time and can't even imagine what it felt like for him. It took him a long time to open his heart again. He finally did and she is a wonderful woman, but what a cruel thing to do. No one deserves to be treated that way.

How strange, this happened to my uncle, many years ago, he never did marry which is a shame because he would have made such a lovely husband and lovely father. Women can be just has cold hearted as men at times. Thank you so much for your lovely review and sharing your story. :) Sandra

A heartless love can do damage to a love that's true. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting readd.

Thank you so much, Charlie. I read so many poems that make the man the villain, but it happened to my Uncle and he never recovered from it. Women can be just as heartless. Again, thank you for your lovely review. :) Sandra

As soon as I saw you had reviewed this poem, I knew it would touch you. I am sorry if it brought those horrible times back to you, Michael. Women can be even worse than men when it comes to matters of the heart. We don't hear about that side in women, only how heartless men can be. You suffered terribly at the hands of a women, and I feel such a deep sadness for you. Had I been close, you would have had a big hug, we all need to be loved. Your faith has carried you through, but it still hurts inside. Love you truly, Michael. Thank you for the wonderful 6 stars, you are the best! xsx Sandra
