May is one of the better months. March and April had destroyed Winter and their warmth has brought about budding and flowering. This is very well written.

Delightful, Brooke! Takes me back to Guenevere singing "The Lusty Month of May" in Camelot. Now that's going back a bit!

I just looked up some pictures of dogwood trees - their blossoms look very much like the pink and white trees (flowering peach, I think) we have here, and which inspired Louis to plant some cherry trees at Home for me. I love blossom trees and your pink and white dogwoods would be divine at this time of year - no pun intended!

Louise :))

Thank you, Louise :-) Ah, now there is a musical!! :-) Dogwoods are part of the culture around here - Valley Forge National Park has a dogwood grove and annual Dogwood Festival in May and so many people have them in their yards. Brooke :-)

Brooke,

This is an excellent poem about the beauty of late spring. I enjoyed reading this post and couldn't find anything to criticize.

Today, my wife set out our hummingbird feeder. The hook is just off our porch, and she disturbed a couple of phoebes who've nested under our porch roof's eave. A bit later, we saw our first hummingbird of the year. Our dogwood isn't blooming yet, but the redbud across the street is beautiful.

Thank you, Dave :-) I haven't seen a hummingbird in a long while - I'm feeling envious :-) The dogwoods are not in bloom here yet either - but most of the other flowering trees are. Brooke :-)

Hi Brooke,

I like the pink ones too. The honeysuckles you can have, they're tough on my allergies and they're everywhere, but I will do my best to tolerate them cause I'm just so glad spring is here, Buck

Buck, thanks so much - I hate the fact that such beautiful flowers plague people with allergies - I suffered for years but for some bizarre reason outgrew most of my allergies at about age 50. Brooke

You have described the beauty of spring in a lovely poem. Here in TX bluebonnets are in full bloom and are goregeous. They grow all over and there's fields of them.

Again I remind myself that I need a dogwood somewhere in my garden. I love the ottava rima, a la Brooke. "When Johnny-Jump-Up gives the brook a wink," What an inspired line! You are so consistenly good.

Wow, gorgeous artwork. Wonderful poem about the wonders of spring as God's creation goes to the next step in the cycle. This is one of my favorite poetic forms--it flows so beautifully. Thank you for sharing.

You just have a computer program that spits out perfect poems two or three times a day, don't you? You pick your favourites and post them. :)

Keep up the great work.

Your poem reminds me of Camelot and the song The Merry Month of May. I loved the show, love the music, and absolutely adore the images in this beautiful poem.
Well done.

I didn't know that Johnny-Jump-Up was giving you a wink? Cheeky Mrs. Pearl. Loved your poem and it made my heart glad that you are looking forward to the merry month of May. It is our last cool month before winter sets in! Well done.
