Masterly as one expects from you, Brooke. The slate stones gave a sense of coldness and the falling leaves both death and a blanket. Peter

Wars have a bad tendancy to take away our young. This is very well written with very good imagery and descriptives scheme. Good luck in your contest.

Oh how your poem stirs the emotions. I found myself catching my breath as I read it. It is so powerfully emotive. It is so very, very sad to think of all those young lives lost and your words made me cry.

Brooke -- I read this last night, but waited until today to review because it deserves my full attention. This poem has incredible depth and many layers. Your word choices offer great interpretation: for me the tall trees symbolize God, thus the leaves are His love or blessings; the cold ground, worldly indifference; the sleep sound is the wish of every mother for her son. Just a magnificent piece of timely writing. Should have many sixes, FS has denied you mine as if it were up to me, I would give you 12. D

Pleasant to think so. A warming poem of comfort to those who grieve. It is heartfelt and genuine. An excellent cinquain that deserves its "All Time Best" award. Wonderful writing.

This is so sad, I can feel your sadness radiating out of the words. This poem is well written within the confines of the form. I hope that you do well in the contest and I can't wait to read more of your poetry.

Your words reflect what's in a nation's heart. It's amazing how tragedy brings out the best in people, they tap the stregth God has instilled in all of us. Well done.

This is a hard one. I hate to think of all the young boys and girls that shouldn't be in the graveyard. It's one of the hardest things about war. Wonderful job.

I had to give this a six. What a lovely thought. As the leaves die and fall to the ground they get a whole new purpose. Never thought about it like that. joan marie
