Different from your usual fun stuff. Although this was still creative. You should have entered this one in the Halloween contest, it is unique but very in tune with Halloween. Vampire bats are scary, I've always had a fear of Vampires. Great poem!

Enjoyable poem. I think vampire bats get a bad rap actually. I am rather fond of bats, but I have never run into a vampire of course. I like all mammals, I am speciest I suppose! :-)

oh, I'm sure my mean animals are not as mean as I make them, my lazy animals not as slow, my fun animals not as harmless...
thanks so much for a gracious review! :-)

This is the dark side of you we did not know about...animals ghost and goblins. Walking in your backyard, feeding the critters, being accosted by the supra natural. Never a lack of excitement the farmstead.

Very nice. Love Kafkaesque. I feel extra special having read Kafka and being able to make the association. Quite an entertaining poem to read. Bye

many reviewers have told me they have not read him - a couple never even heard of him, so it is nice to have reviews from people who "get" it. thank you!

I like the eerieness. It holds a fearful sense of awe. The picture really adds a lot. Although, Terminator makes me think of Arnold I'm-not-going-to-spell-his-last-name in the movie. Good poem though.

I love these holloween poems and stories, this is dark and has such strong images and frights in the story line of the poem, the artwork is surreal, and you wrapped your story around it so well. Great job.

Love your "chat about a bat." At first I thought you were describing a politician but then your author notes described a nice person after all.

The first thing that strikes me is your word choices. You really enjoy language I believe. The picture is great and your concise writing reminds me of what Imagist poets do, painting the subject with brevity in direct descriptive relationships of words.
Fascinating write in many respects, well done.

I love language - There is a great scene in The Belle of Amherst where Emily Dickinson talks about being in love with words. I was college age when I saw that play and thought to myself - this is a woman who was my kindred spirit - who loved a word for being such a sublime word, separate from any context in which it was said. When you read your poems, I can tell you too love words and their sound as well as what we can do with their meanings. This is why I truly value your reviews - almost like having Emily tell me, good job.

Well I don't like bats lol. But I have a friend who does, so I figured I'd read this, and send him over here :-)

well written, good presentation; agree that not every animal can be cute lol.

No corrections of course!

I both like and don't like the creatures, but no rule says every poem has to be a love ode to the subject of the poem! LOL Thanks - hope your friend enjoys :-)

This is a super Halloween poem, never mind that Vampire bats usually suck the blood out of cattle and other mammals. I loved all the vampire movies and the romantic essence some of those vampires gave off. How could you not like a vampire that looks like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise or Antonio Bandaras? The imagery you create with your words is impressive. Excellent writing. Blessings, Linda
