Hello Mystery Poet, this is a wonderful 7-word poem and contest entry. I love the literal and metaphorical meaning of this poem. Very nice rhyme also. Best wishes in the contest.

Ah, farming the old-fashioned way - getting one's hands dirty is good for the soul.
I like this, it has a ring of truth about it. Farming is, in many ways, an act of faith. Faith that the sky will send down rain at the right times and in the right amount so that our crops don't die or get ruined; faith that the birds or bugs or rabbits won't get at our produce before we can enjoythe fruits of our labours...
Well done, and best of luck with this.

Hello Craig,
I come from a long line of farmers and gardeners...Just waiting to get my hands in the soil!

You've done a great job of meeting the challenge to tell a story in 7 words and to make it memorable. It seems this could be taken two ways -- faith in the soil and mother nature and also faith in God that the land will produce for the farmer. Inspiring.

Writing a poem in 7 words or less is difficult enough in addition to having to rhyme....you have done a great job of conveying a message making it appear simplistic. Enjoyed the short read.

I like the message of this and how in so few words, you brought it forth. This poem tells the reader that the farmer is working and believing that the fruit of his labor may be a harvest.. I like this along with the accompanying artwork. Well done.

Well done - a message for all. But so few have the opportunity to have a good job where hard work buys a house. For some, multiple jobs only is sufficient to share a house with other families. A recent solution - send more money to the wealthy. And that will help the poor. Smart people came up with that- I suppose I'm not smart. In any event hope this is something you will consider for future poems.

Hello, you have written a good poem for the prompt contest. Your word choice is vivid and the whole work is very visual with that great picture. My Grandfather was a farmer, so I understand the feeling of dirt on your hands. I loved farm life. Nicely written and best of luck with this entry. Ana.

Both of my grandparents were farmers...How I miss them, their land, and their stories! The photograph really reminded me of them...
Thank you again!

Wow! I find it difficult to write poetry in such few words. Your use of powerful words is captivating. The photo you chose to go with the poem fits perfectly.

So glad to hear back from you. I'm new to this site and I hope I'm doing things "right." I am currently writing a book about caring for my dad before his passing and the cover is going to show his hands. Your photo was touching!

In my opinion, an amazing write, well told in succinct and distinct homage, and in seven words no less, difficult certainly, but accomplished - fully compliant with the prompt. I wish you good luck in the contest...
