Rhonda, this is a great chapter in your new book. I wish that I was going to be around to read this story. Archie has landed in a very strange place and has had some excellent dialogue with Ayala. She seems to be in charge of her home. Archie hasn't a clue where he is or whom has him maybe held hostage.

Well done my friend,,,,,,,,,,Jim

Intriguing would best describe Archie's situation. It's almost as if he has awakened in another time. He is not going to be happy about being forced to stay in Hokee and being unable to contact anyone to notify them of his whereabouts.
Two minor spags:
In the 'previously' section: 'he (made) his way'
In the author notes, the town is spelled Hokie. Elsewhere it is Hokee.
I enjoyed reading this chapter.

Thank you, Heidi!! Not good when you misspell the name of your village! I'm glad you found it.
Also, thank you for the great comments, and the other spag you found. I don't care how many times I read something over, there's always at least one thing... usually lots.

    Thanks again,

This is a very good chapter. I like this story. I suggest you pursue publication for it. Are you self-publishing your previous works?

Brilliant writing here: "The disembodied voice became a young lady as she stepped through the blinding rays of sunlight. Golden brown eyes softened an angular face, and long amber curls flowed around narrow shoulders. Her lips and eyes smiled with amusement. He knew that face-- he had seen it in the desert after he collapsed in the adobe ruins."

Thank you for the most welcome six star rating, my friend!!
Yes, I do self-publish, which allows you complete control of your work. I'm currently working on books here to make them better as when I originally wrote them, I didn't know what I'm learning here.
Thanks for all your wonderful comments!!

Another fine chapter, Rhonda, and I think we vacationed there once--does it have one gas station/liquor store, and one hourly-rate motel? If so, that place blew!

Hi Rhonda, it's a fascinating concept this story. What I'm wondering, is Archie actually dead and somehow now living in a second dimension? I'm looking forward to reading on. All the best. Ulla:)))

I'm afraid Archie is going to wish he's in an alternate universe, but, sadly, he's in the here and now. He's a resourceful guy with lots of energy, don't count him out yet!

However, I do like the way you think!!

What a fascinating plot you've uncovered Rhonda, I wonder where this is leading? Archie when he can get out and go about his business and Ayala his professorial career, simply and enigmatically says he can't, nor do the have phones, or cellphone reception, Grace story Rhonda, love the mysterious plot, well done, blessings, Roy

Thank you for the six stars, Roy. I also appreciate the review. You are always so supportive!

I'm not so sure poor Archie will be back to his career anytime soon. He's a bit tied up at the moment!

    Thanks again, my friend,
