Another great chapter -- an intensely emotional one, as you conveyed. But this level of emotion cries out for even more dialogue than you gave us, I think. In this kind of situation, dialogue IS the language of information, as so vividly shown in the paragraph starting '"Oh, Ulla, why would I mind? . . . '
One suggestion. (Square brackets indicate suggested deletions.):
'That night I went to sleep [as] a very happy woman'

Nice hook presenting the dramatic question as a motivation. The emotions are well shown. Seems like a lot of personal risk to present something this personal.
Held my interest. The writing is smooth and clear. Quite a cliff hanger.

What a meeting! With your birth mother. You showed how special and nervous this event was for you. So many unanswered questions after fifty years. This is quite a journey and an adventure. I hope this inspires other adopted children to contact their birth mother's or sperm-donating fathers, but not all parents want to be contacted by the children they sired. I am glad things worked out for you and your mother. Thank you for sharing.
