Hello Brooke,
Six stars for the potent thought in the first stanza, although, the rating pales to validity of the statement. Good will cannot be rejected. Just like a smile, it is contagious. Unless, however, it's your little brother trying to make you giggle in church...which was the memory that came to mind as I read the rest of the piece.
I remember my mother choosing a pew by a side door in case my brother or myself needed to be reminded of proper social behavior in public...including church, lol. It was ALWAYS my brothers fault!
I completely related and enjoyed the theme of this solid presentation in this splendid write, my best wishes, Bill

Oh I love this poem, Brooke. It's exactly as you write, a giggle is so hard to hide. It comes at unexpected moments, when you are supposed to be quiet.
Believe me, I know how it works and there is nothing what makes it stop... Loved this one so much!!! Fia

This is such a delightful poem. It reminds me of when I was a girl in church one Sunday morning and I couldn't stop giggling. The sad thing is I had to get up and read something in front of the whole congregation, and i couldn't contain myself. This lovely poem of yours brought back that memory.

And of course, giggles and laughter always seem to come to the fore and are contagious in the least appropriate environments- libraries, church, school in the middle of a test just to say to the World, "lighten up".

I agree with you completely.I still remember a time when this happened to me and two of my friends. Jan 31 st is observed as Martyr's Day in India(Gandhiji was assassinated on that day) and if this is a working day a bell would go exactly at 11 and all the students in all classes should immediately stand up and observe total silence for two minutes.Instead of listening to the teacher we were whispering something silly when the bell went off .Just as you said in the poem,"though politeness is worth pursuing' 'we held in our laughter ' but 'our efforts went up in smoke' and of course we got into big trouble!
I just loved this poem and i have to tell you a secret -I did not learn a lesson. Giggles always gave me away for many more years.

This has me giggling all the way through. A delightful way of expressing that old giggle that just won't go away. Perfect, as usual. Thanks for the smile.

Excellent poem. Another great poem for children. Are you making a book for children? NOBODY KNOWS WHEN A GIGGLE WILL GROW.
THEY'LL COME WHEN THEY'RE LEAST EXPECTED

What a delightful photo of our little boy. Yes, I know on experience that a giggle is very hard to surpress sometimes and it will come out. Sawyer looks relieved that he doesnt have to hold it anymore.
A different rhyme scheme that works quite effectively.

I think many of your poems follow us with giddiness. We become excitable and we end up laughing with you as we examine the poetry you present us. Keep it up and you really do with spades.
