But what if your name is Clark Kent? A good play on that timeless saying, a journey begins with one step. In other words, if you need to climb that ladder don't be overwhelmed by the height. Just take it one rung at a time.

My goodness. Where would go be without this adorable, and fearless muse? And his "camera" shadow? So cute. Can't you just see him in twenty years, when grandma takes the album out to show is girlfriend. Maybe later his kids. LOL.

Thanks so much. His mother and I have so much ammunition to use come prom night. LOL :-) Yesterday he took all his clothes off while fingerpainting a Halloween hand-palm craft. Mom left the room for a second only to return to discover he had painted most of himself green as he complained to her that now he had a green penis. LOL Ah, the stories we can embarrass our children and grandchildren with :-) Brooke

Did you get photos? This is hysterical.
Yup, you really have the stuff of "blackmail".
    Love it.

Yes, there are photos, but just for personal family use LOL She usually puts things on facebook, but in this bizarre world you never know what nutcase enjoys such photos for the wrong reasons

I know. My great niece will not put her 5 year old on FB anymore. So sad. I don't get to see her grow. And she is a funny kid.

We still use facebook in our family for 95% of our pictures, but it's sad to think some sick people can twist a picture to suit their ugly ideas of the world

Oh yes! Major Muse is back, motivating Grandma to climb to new poetic heights by his own endeavors. Well done, as you chronicle the rise of Sawyer, man meant for the heights! :)

Brooke, This is so cute and amusing. I'm sure there are times when we all wish Superman could swoop in and help us. For me it would be pulling weeds. lol. Wonderful poem, really enjoyed it. Have a great day, Judy

A great truth is expressed in this verse.
Goals are achieved in small increments not giant leaps as writer says.
And, though we may get an assist from outside, it is our efforts that get us to a goal.

Thanks for writing!

This is a lesson all children must eventually learn. Many adults need to learn this too. You've stated this succinctly with humorous prose. Nicely done.

Thank you for your positive comments, Joe - since a 4 rating translates to "needs improvement" on fan story, I would appreciate your letting me know what parts of the poem you would like to see me improve :-) Brooke

Sorry, I should have said something. The poem, although well written, was one stanza. I thought there was much to say that wasn't said. If you don't think that is fair, I will change it to five stars. I'm rather new to the forum, and I do stumble now and then.

I don't dictate other people's ratings - just wanted a reason. Sorry, can't make it longer because this is an epigram, and the very nature of an epigram is to make a short, pithy statement where brevity adds to the message's impact :-) Brooke

Okay, as a reviewer, I am learning. You make a good argument, so I changed my rating to five stars. My apologies. I will not rate poems based on brevity again. -- Joe :-)

Good Morning, Brooke

and happy Friday! I did so enjoy this delightful little poem about self-reliance and tenacity. Well done and yet another excellent poem for young Master Sawyer's book of Grandma's Verse. Your signature meter and rhyme shine brightly, my friend, as does the theme.

Well done.
Ray

Simple short abcb poem about getting up the ladder to a slide or platform. It also can be the ladder of life.

Sawyer always makes the perfect illustration.

Keep writing

I think Sawyer knows he's got this one covered. Lol.
What a unique and fun way to deliver this pep talk to a young mind.
Sometimes I think they feel they are superman- then it's a worry.
