Hi Bev, I'm glad to hear that your hip replacement surgery went well and that you are on the mend. A friend of mine had three titanium pins put in her hip, after a fall, and now she has just had the them removed because the hip has healed and the pins were getting loose. Your story is a good account of what you went through. "See" you on Monday, in Alvin's class!

I tend to agree with you. Throughout my chemo treatment, I had wonderful doctors and nurses. I know sometimes things go wrong, but I think that the exception not the rule.

The road to recovery can be long. I have had two knees replaced, and two rotator cuffs, won't be doing that again, though they say it is needed. I am sixty-five, how often do I really need to raise my arm over my head? Nice story, thank you for sharing.

Hi, Bina1. You're right, one does have to weight the advantages of whether surgery will really add that much to the quality of life. It is possible to function pretty well with a rotator cuff tear - I did it for two years and then decided to have it fixed.
Thank you for your wonderful review and interest in my essay.
Kind regards, Bev

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing this experience with the rest of us. It is wonderful to be able to do things again. No who has not experienced knows how hard and painful it is when a joint no longer works. Our joints often get this way from injuries and over use.
This is well written.

You are so right, April. My condition was arthritic changes, which is an unfortunate by-product of living in an area with high humidity and extreme temperature changes seasonally.
Thanks for your great review. Your support is much appreciated.

Very well written and good to hear someone saying positive things. I haven't had any experience with your American health care system but it sounds as if things were working really well for you. Good luck and I do hope you continue to experience excellent results.

This is a beautifully written piece about a subject of great interest to many senior citizens. Your word choices are perfect. Overall, your grammar and punctuation are, too. Outstanding job!

I am so glad everything went well for you. It is so good to hear positive things being said about our health care system. You made your point very believable. In a few weeks, I will be having brain surgery and you made me feel better. Thank you for that. Thanks for sharing, Shirley

I am so happy you had such success. I love the way you inject humor into a painful process. Kudos to you for "Letting go and letting God" tend to your needs over and above those of your surgeon. I am also happy your recovery is going so well. you deserve 6 stars for this.

Your last paragraph relates to those that have health insurance and receive all they need without suffering financially. That is among the minority in this country. The private health system in this country all relate to money. Drugs need to have prescriptions because of money. You need to see a doctor, money. The doctor gets paid by the pharmaceutical companies to write prescriptions for their drugs, money. Insurance companies pay doctors not to test for certain ailments, so it saves them money. This is the only free country that doesn't have free medical coverage for its citizens, money. The politicians get paid off not to have this by the insurance companies. Free health coverage means no money for them. Although I am glad that you are doing well in what your circumstances are. This is a backward country when it comes to health for its citizens. It's all about greed. If you have money, then all is well. If not, then nobody cares. It's all about the haves and have not in the USA. Even our class structure is figured out by how much money you are worth. Not by what or who you are, money. Money is the cause of all our evils. It doesn't care about you or I. It is just a greed, that is the scourge of society...

Hello, Kingsland. I know that you have spoken from a place of personal integrity and I appreciate it. But I would be a major hypocrite - not to mention the negativity I would be adding to the universal energy around all of us - if I were to downplay my experience. I am sad that it is not the norm for others. I really do try to keep my good fortunate to myself, But in this case, I felt I needed to let folks know that the system is not hopelessly broken and many Americans do get very good care. The procedure I had is a covered benefit of Medicare - which I believe would pay the majority of the cost. Since I am 58, and may not have the advantage of having Medicare available when I am old enough to apply - I am grateful for what is happening in the here and now. Thank you much for sharing - and echoing - the thoughts of other reviewers.
Kind regards, Bev
