Wow. I mean that. I will never look at leaves ona grave the same way again. And that is what strong poetry does. The better poems change your perspective, even if only a little, and you can never quite go back to the way you were ever again.

Brooke, I love this poem. It brought tears to my eyes when I read it the first time. I love the meaning that is so beautifully conveyed. I also thought about our sons and daughters so they sleep sound. Blessings to you. Queenise

Hi Brooke...I have to admit this piece brought a tear to my eye. I always think of my husband on Veteran's day as he was a proud and brave soldier. This is a lovely cinquain poem with so much sentiment. Wonderful...good luck in the contest...blessings....chey
