This poem sends a shiver down the spine
the artwork draws you to the gate and
the words provide a picture of what
horrors lurk behind. And what untold
stories there are. Chilling, Brooke...

Wonderful, captures the atmosphere of the haunted house perfectly. I realy wanted to give this a six, but even though I have at least one to award, the menu won't let me give it to you. Did I give you one earlier this week? Am I allowed only one per author?

You're only allowed to give me two in a 30 day period - this happens all the time with regular readers - thanks for the wish of a six, Maurice :-) Brooke

I think I've commented that this sucks a few dozen times!!! LOL

A great atmospheric piece of writing. I really enjoyed it. Living as I do in a converted Victorian Asylum, the Old church and mortury are still here. Very spooky when walking the hound last thing at night!

I love this Brooke. Still in you spooky mood I see. The dark side welcomes you. Of which I am a charter member. Along with the lust side and the weird side. Love the flow and the rhymes are terrific. As usual. Squeaky gate in there somewhere would have really creeped me out. : 0

Not so sure you'll be seeing much of the lust side from me, but I enjoy the dark side :-) Thanks, Tony. Brooke :-)

That should be in a All Hallow's Eve contest. Gives one the chills but yet a curiousity to find out what's behind the gate....can I borrow that key please??? Nice one, Brooke. Isn't it a shame you have to explain neath to readers? ughhhh.

I entered the Old Corpse Road in the Halloween contest but just discovered another scary poem contest so now need to write yet another as I'm still in the spooky mood - this makes several in the past couple of weeks. LOL Neath is a word I've used before and yeah, I had several people tell me I needed the apostrophe, so now I head them off at the pass. Thanks, Jo Lynn. Brooke :-)

Oh the haunted house on the corner, or on the edge of town. I still want to go there and see what's inside. I loved this poem, it gave me chills. Great job.

Brr! I don't think I'd want to open up that gate! There are places and things best left unopened, Brooke. Funny how attracted we are to darkness, strange how it titillates and seduces, while it frightens us. Good bit of Halloween stuff, Brooke. Well done.

Abandoned houses certainly have their place
in our lives. They definitely lure the curious,
the adventurous, and sometimes even the timid
with an aura that draws people in. You've
posed a good question - what lines does our
own curiosity draw? Terrific poem! Carolyn

I think most of us had such a house in our neighborhood or a cat lady or something of that sort. Another good seasonal poem. I enjoyed it. ann
