Your poem contained nice images of the milkweed. I almost had to sneeze. The photo and the background made the poem pop off the page. I enjoyed reading it.

I have always admired writers who express so much in so few words. This haiku really delivers. The visuals and imagery are powerful. Excellent!

Very nicely crafted haiku. I've heard of milkweed, but we don't have it here in AZ, so I've never seen it. The picture you provided is pretty--that is an interesting looking plant. The concluding line was perfect. Great job!

Thank you - it is a stunning plant in the fall when it has gone to seed - certainly a most photogenic plant. Brooke :-)

Brooke,
This is an excellent haiku, and without any faults that I could find. You do a really good job of making the third line a summation and a looking for something more universal and significant in the third line. Haikus should be like that.

Haiku's are too short to review. To bad short reviews are not accepted. Because I could then just give a summation of the review or do the New school way, pass/fail. But, that would not be acceptable either, I'm sure. So what do we say about Milkweed pods, it's a bit of a sticky subject. I guess I'll leave it at that and let someone else spawn a review. mstad55

Freedom does spawn new life. I remember once when I was free, was not sure what to do, so I ran back to my mother and she made it all better...three is probably too young to think you are free....but so is 92.

Ah, this is succulent, Brooke - and what an amazing picture! Another superb satori replete with metaphorical wisdom, as usual. I don't know if I asked you, but are you putting these into a book? Beautifully done. Take care,
heather

I just love that freedom spawns new life. What an excellent Haiku. I couldn't figure out the picture. I kept staring at it. Then I remembered milkweed with that pod. It fits the poem perfectly. Lovely Haiku.
