Hi Brooke your naani entry is so good
Nothing like a smile from a cute little girl that can lift anyone spirits when they are down
Of course the taste of a good piece of pie always helps
smiles

Gert, and she had one lovely little smile - not huge and toothy - demure :-) Thanks, Brooke

Too true. It seems the wealthier we become, or the older we become, the fewer smiles there are in our smile account. Often, we are bankrupt. Thank goodness for little girls.

Thanks, Grace - I was thrilled to win this contest so when I take Lydia a copy of the poem she inspired, I can tell her it won a contest to boot! Brooke :-)

How gracious and generous is Lydia!
I'm sure her smile bespeaks a gentle
and caring nature - your poem is a fresh

Dear Brooke,

What a lovely story. It is true and heart warming that the sight of a child, especially one so willing to help such a wonderful cause, that society so often ignores, should put smiles on faces.
A lovely read Brooke, thank you.
Steve

Wow. One of my favorites. You have such an amazing ability to put so much meaning in a poem, even if it's short. Wonderful job.

Thank you, Mary - Lydia is a girl just about the same age as you - I even thought of you when she told me her age and thought she was now the second girl I knew who was so mature and wise beyond her years. :-) Brooke

Seeing you present this theme so often, Brooke,
I assume you have read, "The Same Kind of Different
As Me?" I also mentioned a couple of things I have written. I know you read the poem. There are two versions of the prose--"Kitty Litter Bucket Tramp;" and, "Dollar and Seventy-five Cents."
good luck in the contest.
Rob

Rob, thank you. I just read and reviewed the Kitty Litter Bucket Tramp after I finally found it alphabetized under T for The. LOL I am not familiar with the Same Kind of Different as Me. Who is the author? Brooke

What a beautiful story. I like how Lydia's presence, smiles, and service, helped to nurture the spirits of the homeless. She may never know how she ministered to them, but perhaps they will remember and be comforted during their times of difficulty.

I like how you expanded on the 2nd lines' words "smiles" and "pie" in the third and fourth lines.

The meter flows well; nothing seems jarring or out of place or forced. I admire your ability to make the rhythm flow so naturally.

Counted up the syllables. 25, right?

I enjoyed this description of Lydia. She has a beautiful spirit. I can see why you enjoyed working with her!

Beautiful. Good luck in the contest. Laura

Yep, I used up each and every allowable syllable! LOL
She was a gem. Thanks so much, Laura, for your characteristically thoughtful analysis. Brooke :-)
